With the RTCM and the Main server on the same LAN, and the RTCM pointing at the LAN IP of the server, 10 minutes or so, the RTCM looses the master server and then comes back, it gives offline and says the host connection was lost, then quickly goes back to OK. Has anybody seen this before?

We are using the Garmin GPS 18, and when we switch it to 9600 Baud, the GPS light never lights up, it needs to be on 4800 baud to actually get a GPS lock. It looks like it might have to do with the ethernet switch, tried connecting directly to the router, and no issues yet, i'll report back if it decides to randomly loose connection to LAN server again. Weird, I have tested the Garmin 18 without issue setting it 9600 baud. I don't use it because I run external antennas using the QRP Labs QLG-1. I currently have my one RTCM for my second transmit site going over the internet without an issue. You might be on to something with a possible issue with that network switch. Having rtcms on the same physical switch as the server is the *most* ideal scenario you could possibly have. Should present less problems rather than more. Have you watched the RTCM's console during the drops to see if it mentions anything about GPS Unlock? If not, does it present any other data of interest when the server loses the RTCM? Also, as I remember, the LVC18 needs to be configured with its windows program for different baud rates, not sure if you're already doing that. Yeah bypassing the switch and having both the RTCM and the Server on the router solved the problem. Initially I had both the server and the RTCM on the switch. The RTCM didn't even seem to find the server if I am not mistaken. Second, I moved the RTCM to the router and left the server on the switch. It seems to work fine initially, but it kept "loosing host" for a second and then finding it again. Now that both the RTCM and server are directly on the router, it seems to be working OK. Don't think it's a GPS issue, but we do have to move the GPS outside of the fan hole of the shack for a better signal eventually. I am still really confused how 9600 baud works for so many people with the GPS-18. The yellow GPS light does not activate when I set the RTCM to 9600. Only 4800. I am leaving back to college in a week but I might get one more chance to go out there and try a new switch or have someone else do it, I'll report back if I do that. We also noticed a glitch in the RTCM where if you take network out enough times, it will fail to boot when it reboots on acquisition of network. We're working on a way to hard reboot in the event that does happen. Apparently it is a known glitch according to RMHAM. We're thinking of leaving the previous repeater controller in just for RX and using DTMF to control a relay on the logic ports to switch power to the RTCM.
