That is true but I think he is asking about usbradio. On the BBB I highly recommend simpleusb and that is the default setup mode. In general I would recommend simpleusb for Allstar on all platforms unless there is something you absolutely need on usbradio. The dsp code can and does often cause audio distortion depending on what system you are running it on. I have often seen the problem on PC's as well as small board computers. Unfortunately the default for the Acid release is usbradio and I have helped quite a few Acid users switch to simpleusb with greatly improved audio. Hi Doug, i use Intel boards D2500HN with DSP using usbradio.conf and 2 usb-soundcards CM119 without distortion of audio. For using it with sunpower i search a powerless computerboard with same or better properties of D2500HN. I didn't find it yet ... 73! I have seen the subject line mentioned many times, and have decided to comment on it. Not all platforms had distortion when usbradio was being used. The 'other' distribution had a patch applied to it nearly three years ago. Recently, the ACID distribution had the fix applied to it. This will resolve any audio distortion that may have been present when using usbradio. The patch is not applied automatically. In other words, any new installations will automatically be running the new, fixed version, and any old installations will not be effected unless you choose to re-do the tuning. Thanks go out to Jim - WB6NIL for patching the code where this problem was concerned. While there may be instances where simpleusb is desired, especially on horsepower challenged platforms, there are no longer any distortion issues that would be circumvented by using simpleusb. Kevin, Well said, I was going to post something similar but you beat me too it! I have never had ANY issues with audio distortion when using usbradio, then again I have never tried to run usbradio with a computer that has lower CPU performance. While simpleusb might be good for lower powered CPU based system, usbradio works fine on systems that use a reasonably powered CPU. Yes usbradio takes more CPU to run some of the DSP features that are available. Hi Guys, Does anyone know what might be causing asterisk to randomly restart? At any point (could be after 20 hours or just an hour of running) my hub node will restart and below is what is being logged when it happens. Stephen, The log you sent looks like a normal start up. Don’t see any thing wrong there. App_rpt has always had run time issues. Look around at the blue background status screens and you’ll see not many nodes with any significant up time. But restarting after only one to twenty hours is not normal. Are you connecting to a big network? Doing permeant connects? Which distor are you using and on what hardware?
