I have successfully installed onto both of my Dell Inspiron Netbooks model 1018, 1.66 Ghz processor, 2 GB of ram, and a 250 GB SATA II hard drive which I changed out for a 16 GB Solid State Hard Drive. Hello all! Well I am learning linux as we go, and can navigate my way around it pretty good now. My question is has anyone installed the acid.iso onto a netbook (no cdrom drive) yet? I totally agree that what you did is clearly the sensible and expedient way of accomplishing the task. I really dont have much guilt expecting people to have or use such a thing. However, I also acknowledge that it would be *nice*, certainly not necessary, but *nice* to have the USB install as an option. I do not know how to accomplish it at this time, and I have no intention of spending the time to find out. However, if someone *could* figure this out and "contribute" their wisdom (in the form of an installable package, not just a list of perhaps vague instructions), it would be of great benefit to everyone (at least potentially). Did something change in the install process? I remember before being asked for my Allstar login info, and picking which server I wanted to download, I also remember being asked what I wanted the root password to be. Yes it asked me if it was a static connection, and I typed N for no. It then proceeded to download from the repositories. Very strange. I don't even see asterisk in the /etc folder.
