you dont need a radio hooked up to just see if the node is functioning properly otherwise. use system-config-network (its a Centos release, so it does nomal Centos things) to configure the ethernet interface to a static IP address on your LAN so that you can port forward. You dont need to change port 222.. its a good selection... One you get things set up and port forwarded, your node should come up and "work". If I make up a lop back plug, what or how do I determine if the node is working correctly? How do I set the IP address to a fixed type so I can set up remote help using DMZ? Can anyone explain why the port should be changed from 222 to another number? Is there anyone that would like to help me over the phone? I would be happy to call you on my nickel err dollar.
