[App_rpt-users] Newbie Questions: URIx Loop-back & more?

Greetings from a Newbie,

I would like to do some further testing of my AllStar Node with the ³HGBL²
before hooking up to a radio.
If I make up a lop back plug, what or how do I determine if the node is
working correctly?
 
How do I set the IP address to a fixed type so I can set up remote help
using DMZ?

Can anyone explain why the port should be changed from 222 to another
number?

Is there anyone that would like to help me over the phone?  I would be happy
to call you on my nickel err dollar.
