Nope I don't know anything about the MMDVM and I'm cheap when it comes to new ideas. I make the first project cheap as I can, then go big if it works.. I do have a backup repeater to work with so the the cost is little. David On Thu, Jun 9, 2016 at 10:19 AM, Robert Newberry <N1XBM@amsat.org> wrote:
OK OK I haven't started in mine yet, so I don't totally know everything yet. It was my understanding that there currently is not a seamless integration to ASL. Yes it can be done with other methods that are not too pretty. That is all I was commenting on.
I agree on too many talkgroups on DMR, my little repeater up here I've limited to a small amount of talkgroups for that very reason.

It will do it NOW. Understand what MMDVM stands for. I'm not even sure there is value in a single repeater that does D-Star, DMR and Fusion. The contention for air time will be a issue. Look at what happens on DMR now if too many Talk Groups are supported. BONK!, BONK!, BONK!

I would imagine that at some point the code and hardware will evolve to a point where a more seamless integration to ASL will come. ASL is an excellent way to move audio around within a network.

Yes, it will auto switch to DMR or Fusion or D-Star. With AllStar the MMDVM will have to be told to "go to sleep" so Asterisk can process the analog signal.

OK I was reading this guys webpage about a setting called muti-mode that MMDVM will switch automatically to the mode it receives. <http://ve1cra.net/main/dmr.html>http://ve1cra.net/main/dmr.html So that's why I ask the question. I don't know much about the MMDVM and how it would work with ASL..
Thanks, David

The MMDVM can be inhibited by a hardware signal so that something else can process the signal.

No it can not.

Sorry, Question 1 should be.
1) Can the MMDVM auto switch from Analog to Digital?

I would like to up in and ask a question or 2.
1) Can I use the MMDVM digital to Brandmaster and analog to AllStarLink?
2) MMDVM uses a Raspberry Pi. Can I use the same Raspberry Pi (if yes to question 1) for AllStarLink (Dial)?
Thanks, David KE6UPI
