Another trick I've done in the past is to glue a phototransistor to the carrier detect LED on an HT. You don't have to crack open the HT and it works pretty well. (A downside is that on some HTs the carrier detect LED will turn on even if the correct CTCSS tone isn't present. alas.) Phil On Wed, Jun 1, 2011 at 5:31 PM, Bryan D.
