Way back when; my repeater system was run by an FF-800 controller with mailbox/DVR option. It was very popular with the users. Full voice prompts with send/receive voice messages. All over RF. Pretty spiffy but when our little town got a cellular tower, activity/need, died. Cellphones got cheap and came with voicemail etc etc. Chris KB0WLF

It is legal as the communication you make with it.
I had it set-up years ago but don't really have a lot of use for it. As I said, it is limited to dialing a mailbox as a phone patch and using a hang-up code when done.(leaving a message)
But to listen to messages on a mailbox, you are out of luck on the radio side. You need to use a phone. I suppose you could make-shift a way around it but is that really worth it ?
