agi under asterisk would be the place to look. This allows asterisk to run external programs similar to the way cgi works with a webserver. These programs can do all sorts of things. look here for info: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+AGI http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+cmd+agi eric On 10/9/06, Gary Young <pcfrover@tcomeng.com> wrote:
Just thought I would ask before I took the next step which is to investigate this from the phone side of Asterisk.
A simple DTMF decoder on a PBX port would certainly work.

Excellent question. Before I even considered having app_rpt do such things, people were already being very clever. What people do is use the fact that Asterisk is a multi-functional platform (not just a telephone switch) and use some of the meriad of applications and things available to perform all sorts of tasks. They access and control these things using the autopatch feature of app_rpt. All (well, any that apply which are most) of the dialing plan features avaiable in Asterisk are available to the app_rpt autopatch. Because of this rich inherent ability, I never thought it was necessary to do anyting specifically in app_rpt. People have repeaters doing things I never even imagined repeaters doing.

Is there any support for Digital outputs via the Parallel port or some other device?
How are others controlling external I/O devices via Asterisk and app_rpt?
