When you run the install acid cd and the script asks if you want a static or dynamic Ip choose dynamic. If you chooses static the namserver does not get set and the pc cannot find the site for downloads. If you choose dynamic (DHCP) then you should be able to download. I always use dynamic Ip when doing new install from the Acid disc. After i have the default node built then i change it over manually to a static Ip and set the nameserver manually. Just something to try. Jon VA3RQ On 3/2/2014 11:21 AM, mike@midnighteng.com wrote:
Well, I knew that I would get a lot of replies for the simple stuff.
Yes I did: Burn 6 different CD's using different make cd-r's re-download the iso on other system do a checksum on the iso Verify IP connection. Try the original disk from install last year. Try 2 other computers for install
The system was a working system, All I did was swap the hard drive and install again. only i mistakenly re-installed the original drive.
Found a back-up drive and slip it in and updated the conf's and runs like a charm but I still would like to make this work for myself and a new server for new nodes.
I'll probably clone the drive and change the vol label and work from that.
I just wanted to verify the download server was working before I copy drive images to the folks I was helping.
So if some of you say it's working, I'll take your word for it. I tried to reach it manually without success.
Thanks

I have found in many cases of script failure was due to Ethernet hardware not recognized by the default initial install. I keep a linksys usb300 around for installing and after all the CentOS patching, the main nic is usually detected and I can remove the USB nic.

The site seems to be working fine for me. You might try downloading the ISO and burning it again.

I was helping a few folks with their install and all of them got hung-up on the acid install when the script called for phase1 download.
I even changed my hard drive and tried it on my system... Problem being I did not change the hard drive (really reinstalled original drive) and wiped my install.
Can anyone verify what I'm seeing on three networks ? (download site broke)
