I know my hearing is not the greatest, but when I connect into my Allstar node via iax, and my friend connects into the node via Echolink from his iPhone, the audio going both ways is very good. When I connect to my node/repeater using my radio, his incoming signal sounds pretty good, but he complains that mine is noisy. I'm going to try a portable radio vs the HT, and see how that works. The service monitor says my HT is under modulated. I guess I'm not understanding the "awful audio" comment. I'd like to learn more about what it is about the audio that makes it less than acceptable. But one or two "usual" connections regularly have other connections going to some of the worlds worst audio (usually from San Antonio). And because one of their annointed three couldn't connect to me they kicked up a fuss, so there are three callsigns in my accept list for them. So when I get home from the office today I'll nuke my echolink port, good riddance to the trash and idiots that wouldn't know the business end of a soldering iron.Never used IRLP. Stopped any thought of it when I got to the part where they wanted to sell me something and I had no control over stuff. No way.
