So does this mean you can run App_rpt & Asterisk on the WRT 54GL???? No! :-)
it only means I have an idea and was using that as an exaple on where something like the simplesb channel driver might come in handy.
Dont get me wrong, It would be great to run App_Rpt on the 54 GL. I have a number of them.
But how would you do a radio interface? I dont see any USB ports on any of my 54GLs.

I'm playing around with the Intel D510 MB with a 32 G SSD and have 3 Allstar nodes running on the board with URIs in full duplex with DSP Squelch and PL.
I had 4 on there and it seemed ok but the load ave hit 1.2! so I took out one node and now seems ok with the 3.
Perhaps using chan_simpleUSB might clear that up.
Nice low power package but cost a few bucks~($325 CDN) but solid package and yes there is a fan in the enclosure so heat doesnt seem to be a problem.
But I would like to know about what you had in mind on the 54GL.
All that I had in mind at this point was looking into it. :-) As I have som many of them around here. :-) -Steve

chan_simpleusb is basically a 'gutted' version of chan_usbradio. It has no DSP functionality whatsoever. It is designed for radios that provide COR and/or CTCSS detection signals, and will run FAR more efficiently allowing for use on MUCH slower CPUs.

I'm curious about chan_simpleusb. Can it be used on a slower PC to improve performance?
I'm running 2 CM108 fobs here on a P3/866 MHz with 512MB ram. This was my old EchoIRLP node PC, and it seems to work ok for Allstar, but I realize that it's below the recommended CPU speed for a USB fob node.
My node radios have PL encode/decode in hardware, etc, so would I lose any functionality by switching to chan_simpleusb?
