Steve, This is definitely a strange problem. I have not seen these issues (at least on the hardware I have). You might want to ask either of the USB FOB developers Steve Henke or Jim Dixon to ssh into the machine to see what is going on with the USB channel driver and XPMR on your hardware platform. You might also want to try different hardware platforms and do direct installs (without using virtualization) to try and identify what makes the problem come and go. Steve.

Okay, Stephen, here is the state of my experiment so far...
I didn't burn your ISO to a physical disc yet, but I tried it in my virtual machine and no change in behavior, but that isn't necessarily that meaningful as it could be an issue with the virtual machine.
Back to my EVB installation... After some playing around I figured out how to use aplay to send a sound file out to the USB Fob... aplay --device=hwplug1:0,1 <filename>
I took a file recorded in the parrot mode and I put the PTT line to ground while playing the file, and what do you know, it works great.
I do have an internal sound card on this box, and I am wondering if something in the sound generation stuff is getting confused and sending audio out the wrong sound card? I don't have speakers on the other one so I don't know, but the USB FOB is the second card detected.
I've tried to disable the internal card but haven't had much luck yet.
So, the upshot so far is that Asterisk/app_rpt is able to read the receive audio, record it into a parrot file, and key the rig, but any time it transmits there is no audio. Nothing, nada, zilch, just a carrier. Playing a sound file through the USB FOB while forcing PTT on the radio does in fact transmit audio.
Still thinking, but running out of things to think of trying.

I have seen this problem. Are you using a USB hub, or are your devices directly connected into your computer?? We have had some very strange problems with some hubs. Jim WB6NIL

Unfortunately the USB FOB is connected right to the computer, and it is the only USB device connected at all. The computer only has two USB ports, just for the sake of completeness I will try the other one. Steve
I've been on vacation. I am back now. I had the same problem with the audio swapped Aux,tx audio. I do have my app_rpt repeater up on 442.575+ pl 114.8. The receiver isn't very hot but it is working. I have asterisk doing all kinds of cool things. Maybe we should meet up and swap notes. I too am in Machesney over on Dorothea. Also, in case I wasn't clear, this behavior is on a direct hardware install with no virutalization. My virtualized tests didn't work so I've put them aside until I can get it working on real hardware. Steve
