Hello Group! Running latest DIAL image, and updated. Two RTCM's running as Mixed. Both RTCM's will break into a underwater sounding reverbed mess all of a sudden, but not always at the same time. S tarts out small and gets worse the longer the transmitter is keyed.. After the PTT stops, everything returns to normal until it starts again. No pattern, no reason... changed buffer settings on both ends. no joy.. any ideas? Sam
Do you have the 2 RTCM's on different frequencies or using different tones? You can't mix 2 RTCM's that are listening to the same frequency but not using GPS as they will have different and varying delays. Chuck On Tue, Feb 20, 2018 at 7:46 PM, Sam Nabkey <sam.nabkey@gmail.com> wrote:

Because you said there was a "reverb mess". I'm thinking there is a spur causing one radio to hear the other and cause the echo loop. On Wed, Feb 21, 2018 at 5:52 PM, Sam Nabkey <sam.nabkey@gmail.com> wrote:

What is the computer? There is no GPS involved, right? Do you see any messages on the Asterisk CLI or when telnet'd to the RTCMs when this happens? Buffer settings need to be at least 1200 and 250. What is the computer?
There is no GPS involved, right?
Do you see any messages on the Asterisk CLI or when telnet'd to the RTCMs when this happens?
Buffer settings need to be at least 1200 and 250.
What do you get from voter ping?

No. That's not the case. I suspect a timing issue or something.

Because you said there was a "reverb mess". I'm thinking there is a spur causing one radio to hear the other and cause the echo loop.

Now you have me wondering why that would matter?

Do you have the 2 RTCM's on different frequencies or using different tones? You can't mix 2 RTCM's that are listening to the same frequency but not using GPS as they will have different and varying delays. Chuck

No pattern, no reason... changed buffer settings on both ends. no joy.. any ideas?

DELL R210II Server...
There are *some* Dell servers that will not run Asterisk - app_rpt correctly. I used a Dell 1850 for years on nodes 2135, 2124 and the NYLRS hub - never a problem. I was given some (newer) Dell servers to aid with our WAN Repeater project. Two of them were Dell 1950's, and both of them would produce this underwater effect. I had everyone familiar with app_rpt look at this, with no explanation. My resolve was to move to a different server. Note that 2135, 2124 and the other hub has NO connected radios - it's only a hub. Sometimes the underwater problem only affected one of the hub nodes. I now have a few SuperMicro servers running this series of hubs with no problem. Same distribution and all. My suggestion is to try different hardware. Kevin W3KKC
