Are you using COR and possibly CTCSS logic output from your Maxtrac? Please define “unkey”. Do you mean when the Maxtrac drops PTT after someone on the Internet side of the node unkeys? If both of these are true then you should use a scope on the COR and CTCSS leads to see what happens as the radio switches back to receive from transmit. I don’t remember at the moment what Motorola radios have this feature, but some of them have a debounce setting that may solve the issue if the logic I/O’s are triggering rapidly on a change of state between transmit and receive. This is a motorola Maxtrac setup as a remote base listening to a certain repeater which is setup for "TX PL on Input Only" through the radio club. The repeater is a tad bit slow on it's Transmit CTCSS turning off however, so it sends a bit through the network when the remote base unkeys.

The repeater would have to be a whole lot longer than "a tad bit slow" to turn off the PL encoder. When the PTT goes inactive, the Maxtrac sends reverse burst and then unkeys, a process which takes on the order of 200 ms. During that sequence, the repeater should have recognized the reverse burst and closed its squelch and concunrrently stopped encoding PL; both of those actions should have completed before the Maxtracs transmitter even drops. If the repeater is still transmitting PL by the time the Maxtrac transmitter has unkeyed PLUS the time it takes for the Maxtrac to switch back to receive mode (takes a bit of time for the PLL to lock) PLUS the time needed re-aquire PL decode again (and Maxtracs are not great performers in this regard), then something is wrong with the logic at the repeater as it would appear it's encoding PL MUCH longer than it should be - by several hundreds of milliseconds at a minimum. I see what the lad wants to do. Ping pong is the non-descript term for the action happening during the repeater hang time. Skyler- The wise guys have spoken, with their knowledge still mentally lingering, I am going to throw this tid bit in there too: Unless you have technical control of the repeaters, you are going to experience the un-desired ping-pong action you are having -BECAUSE- what I said in my first statement.. For an ASL remote base to a repeater, one we had control of, at the repeater side, the repeater controller was set to only TX PL when the repeater's RX was active. That solved our ping pong issue. As I lead on to earlier, you are just going to have to deal with that as repeaters and their operation are created in the image of the owner - we are all unique. The pulse you are getting at rx/cor  is from the switching of the TXer  and I don't think a software delay is going to fix the issue.

Are you toggling the TX with a relay ? Did you put a zener across the coil of the relay if so ? You need to scope the source. Probably at the TX/PTT line / relay  contacts, even a transistor may need changed/filtered with a cap. Is frame ground bonded with negative ? Should it be ? Check radio specs.
