The above linking will connect reconnect if there is a drop in the network. It will reconnect quietly.

Then reload rpt.conf or stop asterisk and then restart asterisk so the changes will take effect. Then try them out. *951node will link your node to the node specified. It will keep it connected. If your internet gets too slow or goes out it will automatically reconnect as soon as it possibly can. Note: if you use the Perm connect command (*953node) you must use the Perm disconnect command (*951node) to break the link or *954. The use of * 10 or *1node will not break this link. No. I did not add them... Why aren't they in there? How would you know to add them? Or how to add them? Shouldn't this already be in there? Also, it seems that if my internet connection get's interrupted, I have to reboot the node to get it to connect again. After the internet interruption, I can't control anything. Not necessarily. Some folks want stuff like that in there, others don't see a need for it. Since app_rpt is pretty much roll-your-own and make it work like you want it to, in the spirit of open source, the shell system is there which works; any modifications or tweaking are up to the end user. You think this is a chore...try learning the command syntax and macro language for hardware. At least asterisk is a bit more natural-language oriented and simple to modify config files with a simple editor like VI or PICO.

It takes a while (10 min/20 min?) for your node to reregister with the upstream server. You shouldn't have to reboot; unless your ISP is (probably) assigning you a random IP address out of the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) pool they have, in which case, if your address changes at your end, then it has to re-propagate, again, upstream. It's not a bug, it's a feature, they say. If your internet connection is interrupted...just wait a few minutes. Your node will reregister with Jim's servers when it reconnects. Unless you have other issues in your network equipment that really aren't the fault of asterisk to resolve.

The node, static or dhcp, still needs to register with the server. After it registers it gets added to the list that all the nodes download. If your node isn't in the list then you can't connect to anything so it is a two step process. Nope. I have a static IP from the ISP. pool they have, in which case, if your

address changes at your end, then it has to re-propagate, again, upstream.
