Orlando Hamfest 2/12 to 2/14

This is the largest Hamfest in the southeast, and I'll be there. 220 Repeater Mobile coverage

I did a bit of experimenting with Radio Mobile tonight and loaded the antenna pattern in the program. This would be the expected mobile coverage with a 30W mobile and 3dBd antenna about 6' off the ground. http://flscg.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/220-repeater.png This cannot model the BoA building directly behind the building (bearing 150) which will block some of the signal in the direction of Riverview. I don't know how much of an issue this will be in practice, but looking forward to find out. The signal level is in dBm, and most radios will have 12dB of signal to noise at -122 dBm. It will be a noisy signal, but understandable. Around -115dBm most people will find the audio to be excellent quality with minimal noise. We're working on getting some racks up there and a test 440 repeater before we do any major installations. Status of Park Tower Site

I'd like to pass along some great news about the main site. We have the formal go-ahead on the site with a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Park Tower and FSG. I wanted to pass along the good news as I'm sure it will get around regardless. I would ask we keep the details to ourselves until the repeaters and other equipment is online. HT1250 220 radios

I got a great deal on some of these radios and have perfected the modification of them for 220 MHz Amateur service. I got this from the ARRL today and made a call. This is a big deal as it would apply the same PRB-1 to HOA's and other associations. Some news

I went on eBay and did some low ball offers for base station repeaters. Unfortunately everyone took my low ball offers and I've ended up with repeaters and a bunch of spares. We now have one 110W uhf system for ham use and two 25w repeaters for business use. We have the antennas for all of this, duplexer and heliax.
