Michael, I think you will like the DV3000. I have had very good experiences with it. Between using it for DStar (dummy repeater), DSD hacking (DStar, DMR, P25) and now DMRGateway, the DV3000 has been a great device. It runs 24/7 in the shack. Not that I need another project but C4FM looks like fun too. It runs on the oldest PI to the latest, and setup was simple. John is of course right. If you plan to use the RPi GPIO for other external devices, keep the pins. I bought a few very nice metal boxes out of Eastern Europe for the project. I only planned on running DMRGateway so I cut off the pins. I have one of the boxes in "production" and the second for development. The way we did DMRGateway allows for everything to run on one Pi or many. For example, you could have a RPI2 running DMRLink DMRGateway and AllStar. A second RPI1 running the AMBE Server. For that matter, consider the idea of a third RPi1 also running AMBE server for Fusion. You could run DMR and Fusion on a singe AllStar node at the same time. John, I have never looked, do you know the conversion latency of the AMBE3000? I was looking at interleaving multiple clients on one 3000 and depending on the conversion time it could be done (single ambe mode of course). Any ideas? The AMBEserver process isn't very CPU intensive. You could run multiple instances of AMBEserver/AMBEserverGPIO on a single Pi. (One on GPIO, multiple on USB) Just assign a separate UDP port for each. :)

FYI, Today I got a ThumbDV and have tested it with the DMRGateway code. It works just as expected, no issues. I have it running on a "fresh" Raspberry Pi 2 in AMBEServer mode. John, Yes thanks. For this application a shared resource will not work for us (many clients accessing the same DV3000 hardware), but I have in fact used this for a one to one transaction. So your peered to those groups then you had to go into bridge rules and cross patch their time slots and IDs over to us right? All, I would recommend that you change your settings in /opt/dmrlink/bridge/dmrlink.cfg to LOG_HANDLERS: file-timed LOG_LEVEL: DEBUG This will give you a date and time stamp in the log.
