Does anyone know where I can get a Doug Hall RBI-1 interface? They are no longer in production.

Although we havent actually tested on the 817 and 857, according to documentation, it should work fine. All 3 of those radios are the same internal design, and most of the difference between them is physical and whats at the "business" end of the transmitter section. Frankly, I have never come across anyone, that, given the choice between the 3 radios, didnt pick the 897, given the minimal price difference between each of them.

Since the software is still in "development" we still have to get access to a D708 and a D700 (geeze, theyre the same radio +/- the TNC, but I gotta test both to be completely thorough) to do final testing. I have been developing it on a G707, and that works great.

Sure, if you already have a D700, then this would be a great use of it.

Gary, See if your version supports "rpt reload" from the asterisk command line. If it does, you can change the unlinked courtesy tone ct1 in rpt.conf then execute rpt reload on the command line, and when you key the radio, the new courtesy tone will be played on unkey. For morse, "rpt reload" does not reload the parameters from the config file. Asterisk must be restarted for morse changes to take place. This appears to be a bug which needs to be fixed in app_rpt.c If the asterisk comand line doesn't understand "rpt reload", this means you are running an older version of app_rpt.c without reload support. (We do this on the Calnet node) There are settings to faclitate this in rpt.conf: propagate_dtmf linktolink notelemtx inxlat outxlat They're not documented in the rpt. conf file yet, so you'll have to look at the app_rpt.c source file to figure out how to use them. The problem comes when you want to pass * and #. Since these mean something to the app_rpt command decoder, they need to be escaped with a 2 digit sequence. Is it true there are only 10 Macros available? 1-9 and 0 the system Macro?

Is it possible to add a pause in a macro?

With a Macro I would like to:

-Connect to a node in command mode. -Send out DTMF -Pause -Send out more DTMF -Pause

With these settings I get a very short burst of the dtmf propagated, very short. Is there a way to make the dtmf burst longer in duration? The inxlat and outxlat do not seem to do anything with these settings. propagate_dtmf = yes linktolink = yes inxlat = 7 outxlat = 0 Gary

We have some functionality for this when operating a node as a bridge to a legacy RF-linked system. (We do this on the Calnet node)

There are settings to faclitate this in rpt.conf:

propagate_dtmf linktolink notelemtx inxlat outxlat

They're not documented in the rpt. conf file yet, so you'll have to look at the app_rpt.c source file to figure out how to use them.

The problem comes when you want to pass * and #. Since these mean something to the app_rpt command decoder, they need to be escaped with a 2 digit sequence. When you enable command passthrough on a node acting as a bridge, * traditionally becomes *7, and # becomes *0. This is true for all app_rpt commands directed at that node as well. This is what the inxlat and outxlat are used for.

That would be fine if I were getting 100ms. I seem to be getting 30ms or less of tone. Gary

The Zaptel driver's tone output is normally 100ms (which can be changed with and IOCTL). Is that not long enough??

Found the Zaptel digits.h file dtmf tone length to be set to 100ms so that must not be the problem. Gary

Thanks for the info. Confirm you must go into command mode to generate the DTMF? I was not using command mode (I don't really understand what it command mode is) so that could be the problem. My config is the same as yours so hopefully it is the lack of 'command mode' that was the problem. I'll try it and see what happens. Tell me more about using the '0' feature instead of a node number.
