AMBE audio
by Robert Newberry 23 Aug '16

I've setup a second repeater at another site. With the addition of the second repeater the DMR to ASL audio is slow and very slurred. Coming from ASL to DMR its sounds just fine. The strange twist on all of this is the second repeater DMR<->ASL in both directions clean/clear audio. Is it possible I am asking too much of the DV3000 and I need to have a second DV3000? Other than that both the repeaters play quite well on DMR from what I have observed. I've looked at the debug output and I'm not seeing anything that indicates a problem. So in an effort to identify and tackle issues one at a time. I went and grabbed my new repeater and brought it home and peered it to my dmrlink. I figured this was easier so I could my base radio to talk to the remote repeater and watch to see what happens locally. I logged into dmrlink and set the logging to debug and console. I can see I have 3 peers. Two being my repeaters and the other I setup for AMBE audio to Allstar. An example of my problem is this. Traffic from Brandmeister keys up both repeaters and I can respond to the call from each repeater and it successfully passes to Brandmeister. The problem is whichever repeater I use it does not get repeated the opposite repeater. the FCC already addressed this on June 5, 2014 in its' combined R&O in response to RM-11625 which was filed by the ARRL in 2011 to modify 97.3(c)(5) to allow emission FXE and 97.307(f)(8) to allow emission FXD. No one is loosing their operating privileges, nor have there been any listed NALs entered for amateurs using DMR, DStar, P25, NXDN, Fusion, or any other authorized digital emission in accordance with their privileges that I can find. The final sentence of paragraph 26 of the R&O is the operative phrase. This question was already worked and settled long ago; just for the record, my multimode repeater id's in morse every 9.5 minutes in plain FM @ 18 wpm, 800 cps tone, by the way. -- Bryan Sent from my iPhone 6S...No electrons were harmed in the sending of this message. It's an automatic transmission without an id. Dstar and fusion include a call every time. Do what you like though, it's your license not mine. Adding second peer
by Robert Newberry 18 Aug '16

18 Aug '16

I currently have one repeater peered to dmrlink and the repeater and dmrlink are colocated in the same building and LAN. This works well! I'm trying to add a second repeater which is at another site. I can not get the second repeater connected. I've checked the codeplug and I've made sure both routers have the needed ports open. So my plan is tonight to output the logging to console so see if I can see what is going wrong. My question is as far as I know to add a second repeater I should not have to add anything to dmrlink.cfg can anyone confirm this? Unfortunately GPS on DMR radios isn't legal per Part 97 as the radio transmits without an ID. It's something we've always wanted to use but Part 97 prevents us from doing so legally. de K0JSC On Wed, Aug 17, 2016 at 10:00 AM, <allstar-digital-request(a)lists.keekles.org > wrote: > Send Allstar-Digital mailing list submissions to > allstar-digital(a)lists.keekles.org > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > http://lists.keekles.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/allstar-digital > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > allstar-digital-request(a)lists.keekles.org > > You can reach the person managing the list at > allstar-digital-owner(a)lists.keekles.org > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Allstar-Digital digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. GPS

I purchased a Hytera MD652 and I noticed it comes with a GPS antenna. As far as I know GPS can not be passed thru to Brandmeister with DMRLINK, I honestly can't remember. Anyone currently doing it or tried to do it? Maybe this will be something added to HBLINK, I'm not really hung up on the option, mostly surprised I got the antenna, I'll probably just install it in case the option comes up. Getting started
by Robert Newberry 04 Aug '16

04 Aug '16

OK with all of the excitement of HBLINK, I got a couple of Motorola UHF repeaters, due, and ZUM that I could put on the test bench. I am going to guess that you guys are using DIAL? So I should install the mmdvm software, the go to https://github.com/n0mjs710/HBlink to install the HBlink software. After that I should be able to configure the repeater to connect to the test master. spectra vs ?
by Bryan D. Boyle 03 Aug '16

03 Aug '16

The Spectra, while a great radio for analog, and configurable like all get out (multiple heads, handsets, etc.), doesn't have a good place to pick up true discriminator (flat) audio with enough fidelity to drive the mmdvm. It was made for analog service, and their detection circuit just doesn't extract a good signal for digital use. Add to that the self-destructing capacitor issues on both the motherboard and display board (which will destroy the traces if left unrepaired), and the fact they're over 20 years old at this point...there are better (and not expensive) options. I've used, successfully with no more than 5 wires to the back connectors (flat rcv, gnd on the rx side, flat audio in, ptt, gnd on the tx side), both the GM300 and cdm750 radios both on allstar via a URI and digital through the mmdvm. Program for 25k bandwidth (let the sw handle bandwidth limiting, etc...don't put the hw in the way), if using the 300s, make sure the jumpers are set correctly on the board, program up with rss for the 300, CPS for the cdm, hook up and go. I do suggest, if you don't block TG 3100 on brandmeister, that you have a decent muffin fan blowing on the rear of the tx; because 3100 is almost constantly keyed up. measured the fin temps with the fan on, and with almost constant us, never gets more than 10 degrees F above room temps... Just for the heck of it, I did connect up an old hamtronics 440 machine I had that was on my freq, and even it worked, because it is a true discriminator rcv and the tx input is through a varactor right to the oscillator...not that I'd ever keep that in service, mind you... Just some thoughts. -- Bryan Sent from my iPhone 6S...No electrons were harmed in the sending of this message.
