issues with Rx audio Gm300 Repeater

Good Evening all, I figured I would reach out to all of you too see if anyone can help. Setup: Gm300 Rx and Tx radios DIAL Controller USB interface: RA-40 using usbradio.conf The issue I am having is with the RX audio ( i think) is not coming though on the tx side of the repeater. I know the tx audio is set right, since i can hear the announcements and they are clear. So I took apart the RX radio and move the jumper to position A, so its not de-emphasized audio. Things that i have done with Radio-tune-menu Item #2: Rx squelch set to 543 Item#9 Success Setting=0.436243 meas=7089.0 I tried running Item #3 but didnt seem to get it to work, not sure what I am really suppose to do with that. If anyone can help, please do. Otherwise not sure what the actually numbers mean from item #9, might help my brain to understand whats going on if i knew what those numbers actually represented. So if anyone can help me out, it would a great help to me as i have been beating my head against this problem for a couple days. Thanks Chuck. My /tmp directory isn't filling up with any files at all. I made sure there had been voter receiver activity, and ran the script a few times. In the log it shows a new filename everytime I run it. Went directly into the command line and ran: voter record 1727 voter-recordRTC1 I get back: voter instance 1727 Record: Recording enabled info file voter-recordRTC1 Check activity, then send the same command with 2 at the end of the filename to change. Nothing appears in /tmp. I did a complete search on the Pi for everything with the name voter in it, and still cannot find the recordings. I also have a tmpfs that I will have to make bigger once I get it working 25M 8.0K 25M 1% /tmp

Chuck, I've been messing around this morning with my node. I've got a script now made up using the info you provided, just substituted my instance id and name. I'm now getting in the log file - voter instance 1727 Record: Recording enabled info file voter-recordRTC2017-10-25-10-13 Where does this file actually save to, and how does the recording work in chan_voter, how does it capture and know when to stop recording? Steps: - Go to https://allstarlink.org/voterpal/ - Download the following files to a folder on your 1. VoterPal.jar 2. Contents of /lib into a folder called lib 3. Download a test vot file from datafiles folder. Double click on VoterPal.jar and the application should open. File > Open your .vot file and then press play. You'll hear the recorded audio and the resulting RSSI and voted receivers on the right. I'll add to this to the wiki when I get an account :).

Found it! https://allstarlink.org/voterpal/launch.jnlp sample files here - https://allstarlink.org/voter.html https://allstarlink.org/voterpal/datafiles/voter-4-fq.vot Run launch.jnlp... might need to add https://allstarlink.org as a security exception in Java. This opens VoterPal.... Launch.jnlp disappears once it's been run.. trying to find the link to open it again. Might be worth documenting on the wiki.

Cool thanks Chuck, Is it PlayStuff.java? That's the closest I can find to what I think you mean in the votmond file in the source files. I wonder how the recording process would go on a Pi3 in the background... I might have to also make another cron job to delete all archived material maybe once a week, depending on file size. I only have a 16GB SD card in my app_rpt Pi 3.

I'll have a look over the wiki and might create an account myself. Also - not sure if any of the devs that thought of this, but is it possible to get the RSSI data stored somewhere for playback? Reasoning behind this would be for synchronizing with a recording of the repeater so that you could go back and review when a user was mobile or using the repeater and what their RSSI was. I try to listen and view as much as I can live, but sometimes its difficult. Hayden

For one voted site, we are using a Motorola Maxtrac 900 and for the master we are using a quantar receiver. Unfortunately, the RSSI levels don't really mean the same thing between the two receivers. The Maxtrac Voter will be almost full quieting and then the Quantar will pick it up relatively very noisy. I know it is not the best idea to use two separate models of receivers for voting, but other then the signal strength, the audio seems to sound the same. The problem with the Quantar is that it is a "Virtual Discriminator Audio" which needed BEW mode on the RTCM to be enabled and that is what seems like is messing up the measurements. Is there a way to tune these RSSI levels so the perceived signal strength has the same correlation on the numbers 0 - 255. In addition, we would like to disable the master receiver at some points, like only have the voter turned on for receive just to test it's coverage. Is this possible? Thank you, Skyler
