Tonight I had a user tell me that one of my nodes wouldn't connect anywhere. Verified, rebooted the server, still nothing. Tried running the rc.updatenodelist script manually and it just sits there. However, after running the following command I do get an update and can now connect to other nodes. /usr/bin/wget -O /var/lib/asterisk/rpt_extnodeshttp://nodes1.allstarlink.org/cgi-bin/nodes.pl When I checked two other nodes they had the same problem and same work-around. I ran that same command for nodes2 and it works. When I run it for nodes3 it times out. Could a problem with nodes3.allstarlink.org be causing the rc.updatenodelist script to choke? And could that have been causing my nodes to not be able to connect to others?

Echo-stink

I've found the 'permit=w1aw,w5yi,etc' line in the echolink.conf only allows for 29 allowed calls. Any more than 30 entries in the list prevents incoming requests on or not on the list access to the node. Short of checking for typo's, using a backslash\ to continue to the next line, or adding another 'permit= line' hasn't proved any results. ???

Beagle bone black and timedatectl

Good afternoon to all. I have posted on this issue before. I have and off site repeater with no internet access atleast until spring time, Hopefully... My allstar node time is way off. so I try to correct it. The outcome is a lock up condition. The repeater no longer responses. The only fix appears to be a reboot. This only brings me back to square one. The time is way off again. Is there something else to do once I reset the time short of a reboot to bring the system up on line ? is there a way to reset the system and use the new time stamp ? Seriously contemplating an NTP server at the site. I just don’t have the time to put into one right now. I have the new 1.2 code. questions on beagle

Folks, will current distros of pickle, or whatever we use on the beagle boards run DSP for PL decode or noise squelch? I have a BeagleBoard XM and a BBB, about three months back version. I’d love to tuck one of these inside a Nokia BSR-450 repeater eliminating its squelch and PL encode/decode (well, it doesn’t have those)??? Thanks GeorgeC George J Csahanin W2DB 2360

more ezstream

OK - following on my previous posting I found my xml file was in the wrong place. But with it in the right place, I am getting: /usr/bin/ezstream: /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/bin/ezstream) ezstream: Connected to http://50.7.98.106:8426/live ezstream: Streaming from standard input This is when I try to run it manually. This seems like only a warning message and it says it is streaming, but when I start it from within app_rpt I get just continuous repeated restarts. It looks like a compatibility problem with libxml2 (?) my version of that would seem to be 2.6.26 This was an install from the "EZS" tarball linked from a previous posting. Thanks for any ideas. Ken

create inbound route

I am experimenting and wish to add an inbound route from a local asterisk PBX that is linked by iax trunk successfully. I just can't seem to find the info for making an inbound route to my allstar node. I wish for it to behave as an incoming autopatch call. Outbound I have figured out. Any pointer? Thanks Greg

Non Voting RTCM (just a basic node) On Existing Server

Gang... I have an existing server and node running on a PC at my repeater site. The IP is static. I want to set up an RTCM at home that runs from the server described above. Could someone please send me a rpt.conf file that has such a setup please? Reading the RTCM manual, it’s looking for a DNS entry for the hosting server. I don’t really need to use DNS if my server runs static IP? So any tips on setting up the RTCM networking would be helpful too. I have moved the node from it’s own server to the server at the repeater site on allstarlink.org. Hooking and interfacing to the radio is the EASY part. The config not so much. Any help or tips would be appreciated! Thanks! 73 Jim W7RY

RTCM Narrow band voting..

Hello we are working on a grant were we might be getting a stack of RTCM’s in for our amateur digital network. We currently have 18 XPR8400’s online running in IPSC mode. The channels are narrow band coordinated but we have also put analog channels in each of the repeaters so if poop happens we can flip from digital to analog. Our thought was to stick RTCM’s on the back of them to handle the analog side. And as we have some digital voted sites we would also then have analog remote RX’s.. We currently have a few analog sites running the RTCM’s for voting/simulcast now.. but those are on 25khz coordinated ham channels. where as this would be running narrow band. Just wondering the gotcha’s when setting levels on the gear for a 12.5khz vs 25khz channel and the Null’s... -- Fredric Moses - W8FSM - WQOG498 fred(a)moses.bz
