How to Fix your node
by Bryan Fields 03 Jan '21

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 The allstarlink Board of Directors has broken DNS for allstarlink.org once again. The Admin Team has migrated all services off allstarlink.org to 'pttlink.org'. Unfortunately for the users of allstarlink this means they will need to update their configurations. Users of allstarlink should update their nodes to use pttlink.org in all the configuration files. The commands below when run from the command prompt will update all references to pttlink.org. The reboot command is optional, but we encourage it for good measure. sudo sed -i 's/allstarlink.org/pttlink.org/g' /usr/local/bin/rc.updatenodelist sudo sed -i 's/allstarlink.org/pttlink.org/g' /usr/local/bin/NodeNameUpdate.sh sudo sed -i 's/allstarlink.org/pttlink.org/g' /usr/local/bin/NodeUpdate.sh sudo sed -i 's/allstarlink.org/pttlink.org/g' /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf sudo sed -i 's/allstarlink.org/pttlink.org/g' /etc/asterisk/iax.conf sudo sed -i 's/allstarlink.org/pttlink.org/g' /etc/asterisk/extensions.conf sudo service asterisk restart #sudo reboot Registration is still coming back now, please bear with the Admin team. Stats should be back and working. The nodes.allstarlink.org is broken at this point, so if you're using that, change over to nodes.pttlink.org as that is working. The phone portal is down, but we should be getting it back up later today. SSL and DNSsec is going to be wonky, you will want to clear cookies and such. For the time being RT is not processing email, please just post here on the list and someone will look into it. We're shocked that there's been no notice of the board again breaking DNS. This will prevent this from happening in the future. - -- Bryan Fields 727-409-1194 - Voice http://bryanfields.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAEBCAAdFiEEaESdNosUjpjcN/JhYTmgYVLGkUAFAl/sQeEACgkQYTmgYVLG kUCdKw//Yvp5zFuwu6Vb3ioILhlobKbmXIWJ7e8PLe2RjrVU3hYwBQlGO6IMY1d9 ujIl8sHsPo72Xnp5lYmraxN0lvSPngqvlXIsmDe0fr0iWsjQl363BnUNQ3vlgyJI 77e76AcksA6YoVqJiqRPYK/ZvKarJIG63SjTq6ztciwLiLo1uOKunvj1AHUhy268 9lbn9IPJ/pfdaiP5n9vgbNGXr34eYuxDV9ZP9ZpK2jgJ0Y9LsMDOGs7wJzJMYsym rXHmYwSp8vJZKXzNKmqOHpLVV41bZSsgDuYHhZzqte8in9GXTZ6PXPyiBzR1PUGW xOPM97xmnIOQ2KA+4h31i4MHSOvmvSsfE05kuchd1tISGLl/jYWVVRYKH88ylSM2 GoaXwKUZEmq2HKFIs/9KRFobs47O/dhFFYFp2W6DpmkB8jxvloIfay4+OjKT5UvR ON6KMQgC2hH6oqZeyKTGzYE/KFWwRaCb6dPnzZNdxLJuANrFxN+JUFyxRrzxIB9w EgoskZA9aIT1LoX0JfXqoFHubsRw2wpJ1pxiSIsUGDQDija8AJ2Q+c6+UUYOfHVE hbD6Eyuuh9yE5jmUpASj/daMNgB1rHT9hd2pHoOa1Un5OSyaZRSgfw4Tvuo6sW8S CPmvNQwfzWliEbGDa1b6bVeotVOJ+bESJ/vOrNdptk5RwZMlgsc= =Y8nS -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Re: [App_rpt-users] How to Fix your node

Will the old name eventually get resolved? I have a dozen nodes to update and some I can’t even get to unless I physically go to the site due to unforeseen firewall issues. I can wait but need to know if it is imparrative to make this change or not? Thanks PS curious, why the domain name change to begin with? Network wide outage and Security Alert
by Bryan Fields 30 Dec '20

30 Dec '20

Allstarlink is having a network wide outage starting about 6pm EST/2300 UTC. The registration services are down, and all web services are down. It appears the dns glue records at the .org servers have been re-pointed to different servers. $ dig ns allstarlink.org. @b2.org.afilias-nst.org. ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;allstarlink.org. IN NS ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: allstarlink.org. 86400 IN NS tony.ns.cloudflare.com. allstarlink.org. 86400 IN NS evelyn.ns.cloudflare.com. Prior to this they were: allstarlink.org. 2445 IN NS dirtyparrot.digiflux.org. allstarlink.org. 2445 IN NS caustic-sea.allstarlink.org. allstarlink.org. 2445 IN NS ns2.afraid.org. This effectively changed the entire allstarlink.org DNS to point to a different set of servers which returns bunk data. example: $ dig register.allstarlink.org. ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;register.allstarlink.org. IN A ;; ANSWER SECTION: register.allstarlink.org. 60 IN CNAME allstarlink.org. allstarlink.org. 60 IN A 34.105.111.212 This is a security problem as your registrations is being passed to an unknown server. You need to take immediate action and modify your nodes to not register to register.allstarlink.org. -- Bryan Fields 727-409-1194 - Voice http://bryanfields.net

Stats usage
by Bryan Fields 27 Dec '20

27 Dec '20

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 The stats server is provided for everyone's use, by directly looking at it. What this means any automated use via a scripts/polling/embedding is not permitted without prior agreement. Open it up and look at it in a browser as much as you want, but anything automated is not-permitted. Stats is an optional service, it is not necessary for any of the core ASL services and linking. With ~5000 nodes all hitting stats anytime there's an event, it's processing 500-600 updates per second. This actually is fine and preforms well. What loads the server down is graph generation, and when coupled with requests for new graphs for all nodes every second (yes we've seen this), it falls over making 5000 PNGs on the fly. If you have an automated need to use it, please email the help desk and describe what you want to do. 73's - -- Bryan Fields 727-409-1194 - Voice http://bryanfields.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAEBCAAdFiEEaESdNosUjpjcN/JhYTmgYVLGkUAFAl/o9HwACgkQYTmgYVLG kUC1DA//Qohdjplc00Cm3FjxJTc6VcyZTT1E3nt3F4LjP478af+fUrte68H6JMPs QoJenUxngsIVqhIU/00m6psf6MP1OULFJnBvU07/CbMzOA9LiP44IpHZmVsKHmRR FjrTbSd423GPWW/MLnpLACBq6qz5UQc36X1rz2Z3QY26bkNRnMb9C0tC8yphZXia SmCzEQMDOOIc8zYoihXRKKj5zOR763MuAKUu1Oosv10CjxB0VFPktfyHBqvOQS/X j5crupyOG9YCDS++zWk/n9ZMkkVn/Br5/bptOeqItLqntPtwvszxpG/DPzy5iPNI orKiXDh0VLvQpDMFQmfewYvY585cop7WOfyBk+Q8mXDpp7qXafwOhISqOxgMIlRr e8eSh9kJ6Xf0cje/RQxd12XAhOEVoyeO5OyHbOMYHrk4s7yo38TrEHHIeXsTeprS 9tamjSB0Vp9qLEu3KFpWjzFR1SxHdL4UfqoOhVTPYTW5bwBIXBiESV5UFr+x4Z8z I40hkoAB/SHNBj4zFxrCEmkoLYgDo1naHkefeWPckXgXM9gpAojStdz2geemS9uy x6afv1f7nsLSFG6lkxp0/J3VYiPXIQrhLlOlKjGj5yHUNwjn844UdCe5R4Z2Xnaw nHb6Y9wZu1tyNaR1X4mjpGQYF+FjX9vfdslMUZxobO5FUJBEoK8= =H2Ls -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
