The Wiki is really coming along. we have a LONG way to go but, it's starting to fill up with information. Lots of goodies on the RTCM and the start of good documentation of the AllStarLink configuration files. One of the MANY things we we lacking is a place to post radio/repeater connection information. Tim and Bryan have added a lot of connection information for Motorola equipment. I have diagrams for Motorola, Tait and a few others. I'll be cleaning them up and posting. If you have connection information, I encourage you to get a account on the Wiki and post! If you build hardware for use with AllStarLink, this would be a good place to post connection diagrams and links! RTCM Inbound (Eth Rx) packet out of bounds

More testing last night and today. I set the TX Buffer to 1200 last night, rebooted both RTCM units and it was working fine last night. Switched off one of the sites (at home) overnight. Came back this morning, powered up and getting the packet out of bounds issues again. Changed up to 1600 and rebooted both units, worked again. buflen set to 250. Is it just a matter of increasing these up and up until it's stable even after a power reset? I've been swapping out ethernet cables too just checking to make sure that is not the issue... Could still be a hardware problem. Next thing to change is the port from 667 to make sure there is no limiting down at the ISP level.

Private Nodes / System

I have a few repeaters that are linked using app_rpt that are on a private network (but use Internet for connectivity). I'd like to disable all functions of the Allstar Link system for these nodes. Primarily, I don't want the nodes creating unnecessary network traffic and using resources from Allstar Link servers that they don't need to be. Can someone provide me with a list of all CRON jobs, scripts, files, etc. that I should modify to completely have these nodes standalone, and not getting any sort of updates from the Allstar Link servers whatsoever please?

Nodes on same server linked, but not repeating audio?

I have 3 nodes on the same server, and have seen this behavior before, and it's happening now again. My node 40821, 41618, 420 are linked and report as linked, but a user on one doesn't bring the other up and vice versa. Help on using CTCSS with usbradio.conf

To Whom It May Concern, I am trying to get a DMK URIx working with a BridgeCOM repeater using the usbradio.conf to provide CTCSS decode/encode and am having no success. I can confirm that a received FM signals get repeated, and the allstar configuration also appears to be working. However any configuration related to CTCSS does not work at all. I can confirm that the CTCSS tone is present with the input audio being fed to the URIx, but none of the relevant settings in usbradio.conf(e.g. rxctcssfreqs, ctcssfrom = dsp) seem to have any effect. Adjusting the carrierfrom parameter in usbradio.conf has the expected results. The COR signal comes to the URIx from the repeater and functions correctly with carrierfrom set to usbinvert. At least with this I can confirm that apt_rpt is using usbradio.conf rather than simpleusb.conf. While I have tested the hardware, I have not tried looking at the software beyond glancing through the source code to get a rough idea of the layout of apt_rpt. Could anyone offer a working configuration example on CTCSS, or perhaps give debugging hints? I can handle a debugger but am not sure of a good way to debug a program that operates on signals in real time. Thanks in advance, Neil

Systemctl --failed

So an adventure I embarked on this evening was to investigate how to prevent an OS service from putting the ASL laptop to 'suspend' when the lid was closed. I came across systemctl, which can be very dangerous, haha. Poking around, I learned how to view the status of "things", and was looking to see what *may* be running that would suspend the laptop when the lid was closed. $systemctl status I saw "System State = Degraded" in red letters. Interesting! I didn't see what was causing the degraded state, so more reading lead to the use of the command $systemctl --failed which revealed something that I was not wanting to see: updatenodelist.service (or something like that) Given that I haven't fooled with any of the bootup stuff, or anything relating to updatenodelist, but aware that this service is used with ASL, so I used the following command to stop $systemctl stop updatenodelist.service and then started with the following $systemctl start updatenodelist.service and then $systemctl status "System State - running" So ADD got the best of me, and jumped off the track off. Bah! Curious though, anyone else with mad Linux skillz, running an ASL box, ever make the same discovery? You get one point if was also by 'accident' For those who want to know, the ASL box has been running for five-ish days, and before poking around for 'suspend' stuff, I was fooling around with iax.conf and rpt.conf and restarted asterisk by $service asterisk stop && service asterisk start and some other stuff I was fooling around with, but elected to reload the app_rpt module is the Asterisk console KB9LFZ-1*CLI> module reload app_rpt.so this said, asterisk was restarted a few times *before* fooling around with systemctl...So, is updatenodelist NOT related/hooked to asterisk starting/stopping? Not sure if I am asking about a issue or just openly stating an observation that..... could be an issue? ~Benjamin, KB9LFZ

AllStar - Incoming/Outgoing EchoLink connections not possible

Hi All, after so many years (installed 2011) of using the AllStar system flawlessly, now the EchoLink side of it has stopped. I see this error when someone tries to connect... RTCM RSSI calibration (recorder)

I ran the script a few times without the file path and they didn't appear anywhere. I searched the whole Pi using WinSCP with *voter* as a wildcard. Either way, I do have the issue whereby my SD card in the Pi is Read Only. There are tmpfs for /tmp etc but they are very small as the Pi3 still only has 1GB of RAM. I'm going to use a 16 or 32GB flash drive, mount it and save to that. I'll see how long it takes to fill up, and maybe delete some of the older files when it needs to be cleaned up. I did see the archivedir function in rpt.conf which logs and records all traffic (including link) but I was more interested in seeing how the voter performs. Yes, I've had a few microSD cards fail lately, most of them in a dashcam in my vehicle which overwrites the old files and writes every 5 mins. I've since gotten a larger SD card, and set the clip lengths to 10 mins. In the Pi's I use 16GB to help spread out the amount of writes, but being Read Only should help.
