Registration issues

My nodes 27365 and 27751 both on same server is showing on the status page but not showing in the rpt_extnodes on other nodes im using standard port 4569. we have been seeing this with several nodes in our group over past month or so of coarse if we define in the rpt file we can connect but would be nice if it was registering. sometimes it may show up in a few hours or a day generally a reboot and its gone again Thanks for any help in advance 73 Randy KB3HJC

Adjusting Audio Levels

Hello, How do you adjust the audio levels on the node only. In the irlp world I use "Aumix". What do I use in the App_rpt world. Repeater using 2 gm300 and DMK Urix. Sal N6SPD Node 28365

Laptop Settings

Since I've installed my new node on a laptop, I want to be able to close the screen and have it go off and keep the laptop alive so the node will run. Where do I make these setting changes? Thanks 73 Jim W7RY

APRS TT and APRS BEACON rate on ALLSTAR LINK..

To get aprs TT working on ALLSTARLINK down load the latest from the SVN. Upgrading Asterisk to latest (SVN) version If you are using a brand-new current version of ACID or Limey Linux (that was released after the implementation of this new Portal) you are already upgraded sufficiently. If not ... Asterisk must be upgraded to the latest SVN version. For the ACID distribution (and other Linux platforms): cd /usr/src rm -rf astsrc wget http://x.allstarlink.org/svn-trunk.tar.gz -O- | tar xzv mv trunk astsrc cd astsrc make upgrade-acid Then go into the rpt.conf file and add APRSTT= some where in that file. I made it the first line in that config file right underneath the node number Then just google APRS TT and there is a link on Bob's aprs site on everything about APRSTT.. Then to get it to only beacon every 10 min's i added interval=600 into the gps.conf file. 73's Bradley

Quick question on usability

I don't want to be a bad operator at the moment. As I go about checking bandwidth and jitter, etc on my setup. I'd like to connect to an active Hub, but just in eavesdrop mode. But I've noticed that if I connect with the *2 command, that if I inadvertently then do a *80, that the ID goes out on the link that was connected with the *2. Is this true anytime my node decides to ID? Alan

Hi Tony, <can of worms> AFAIK, support for IRLP was removed from app_rpt, at the insistence of Dave Cameron. Personally, I think that he is sitting on a stockpile of obsolete parallel port cards, and is afraid that he'll get stuck with them. Many IRLP node owners believe that their node will not operate without the parallel port card, and the guy selling them likes that. As you know, his board doesn't even handle audio (other than for the DTMF decoder). There is also the matter of his ROIP commercial system, which uses the same obsolete parallel port card. At one time IRLP would issue a node number / PGP key for a "donation", sans IRLP board. As for your last question, I'm not sure. Since app_rpt is open source, I'm guessing it could be done if one knew how to integrate chan_irlp. I decided to vote with my feet, and turned in my IRLP node number after Cameron's antics. Let him take his ball and go home.... EchoIRLP and AllStarLink

Hi all, i have an AllStarLink Node AND an EchoIRLP Node in my home. The EchoIRLP is connected by VHF to the local repeater and the AllStarLink Node is an Repeater at my home. Now i would like to connect both together. I read some lines in the tbd.conf file about asterisk. Has anybody make a connection like that ? For same tbd.conf sample files and what to do on the asterisk i will be happy. TNX for your help and 73 from bavaria tom dh6mbt
