Interfacing AllStar node to existing system over LAN

I'm in the process of resurrecting my AllStar node, which has been down for an extended period of time. I have installed ACID and put my old registration data into the setup script. The system is showing as registered on the allstar.org status page, so it looks like that phase has worked. Now, the next (and more difficult phase) comes. For a variety of technical and cosmetic reasons, I would like to interface the AllStar system to a highly modified EchoIRLP node (it runs thelinkbox in a unique configuration), and have the EchoIRLP node and the AllStar node share status information, so I can implement interlocks (i.e. when IRLP or Echolink is busy, lock out AllStar, and vice-versa). While I can hack this on thelinkbox side, by de-linking the AllStar port (in tlb) when there's other traffic, this is an ugly hack that puts AllStar at a major disadvantage. What I need to know are: 1. Is there any event that is generated when an AllStar node connects or disconnects, that can be used to call an external shell script? 2. Is it possible to set an AllStar node as "busy" on the fly? 3. Can chan_irlp or chan_echolink be used to make outbound connections without being a part of the IRLP or Echolink networks respectively? I'd need to use one of these methods to make the audio link across the LAN. The old chan_rtpdir was quite good for this style of operation, though it was GSM only. Running app_rpt on the same machine is not feasible at this time. It has been tried in the past and caused major grief - need some serious hardware upgrades, but that in turn needs some planning. Also, if I can resolve (1) and (2), this would go a _long_ way to making app_rpt/AllStar more acceptable to the IRLP community, by bringing it into line with IRLP policies. Asterisk conference on 64 bit CentOS?

Is anyone running Asterisk/app_rpt on a 64 bit platform? Can this be done with good results? I'm asking, as I would like to setup a conference hub on AllStar, but the machine this would be running on is 64 bit CentOS 5, which is running under Xen. 73 de VK3JED / VK3IRL http://vkradio.com

Fw: intermittent problem, TX hangs up

Wanted to let people know what the fix was. I was using a dell 1521 laptop. I switched it out with an old IBM T-22 and now everything works fine. I don't know if app_rpt does not get along with AMD 64 bit processors or what.... but it works excellent now. I'm new to ham radio and would like to build one of these to demo for our club. we are looking at using the ACID installation with the dmkeng URI interface. our question is about the radio. On the URI site it list's out using a frs or gms radio. Does this mean that i can use my Yaesu FT-60 as the simplex repeater? basically following the wiring schematic at http://www.dmkeng.com/images/9080-FRS.pdf <http://www.dmkeng.com/images/9080-FRS.pdf>again i am just wanting to demo this to our club, i understand that in a production environment this is not the recommend solution. i am just wanting to demo the aspects and flexibility and hope to have the club invest into a real production system. also i dont want to take apart my HT, i would prefer to just plug it into the PTT/Data cable port. -- Thanks & 73, Denver Little KF5EFG

Whats the Best Way to approach Allstar with Remote capabilities, Using Apache Server HTTPD? I use PUTTY as I dont need a GUI. However if you have XVNC server running, I suggest tunneling the vnc client thru the SSH connection. WINSCP is good too if you are the type of person that has to have a visual on all you do remotely. I know how to use WinSCP in House but how do I connect through my VPN to the outside World for a Remote Allstar? There's Clearly something simple I'm missing.

Any way to do receiver voting in app_rpt software? With discriminator audio and CTCSS tones, it seems like it should be relatively (?) straightforward to select one of several audio sources based on S/N ratio. kind of a variation on the software squelch where only one of a 'group' of inputs would be opened at any time. (Your remote receiver would have to pass along the CTCSS across the link). The second version of this would use another asterisk computer for the remote receiver. In that case, it would be more complicated due to latency between the local receiver and the remote one, I suppose. Sorry if someone has already covered this, but it is not mentioned on the web site.
