I know I have seen this question before, but I cannot find it in the archives. Is there a way to turn off all the connect/disconnect messages? Just leaving the double beep would be enough for our network. Also, has anyone done any recording (produce a wav or mp3 file ) of the traffic through a node? We have a slight problem here on one of our nodes, and I would like to have an audio file to hand to the FCC. Thanks, Chuck K0XM

Have to manually crank the usb fob to make it work?

Just did a clean install of ACID on a Compaq DL380 server This is a Box with Dual Pentium 733's and no built on USB. Also to make this more fun I'm using a USB PCI card to get USB support. The card has an NEC chipset and I can provide more details as wanted. It reliably does not work on bootup. What I mean by that the USB FOB is not producing any audio on it's output.. It has the normal flashing light on the fob and the software behaves like usual when sending audio (no errors) or anything on screen that looks out of ordinary.. Now if I manually do an: rpt restart and then radio key and radio unkey a few times it startes to work and then works just fine after that.. If I restart asterisk or the entire box the problem comes back. Has anyone else ever experienced this or soething like it? I will try another USB card and moving the card around to different interrups.. Just weird... and that it works after slapping it around with commands... Michigan Broadband Systems Inc. Probably sounds like a raspy 1kHz tone. Try the voltage divider first. Your scope picture shows 10mV of noise (assuming a x1 probe ad 2mV/div). I'd try a 20:1 voltage divider ratio. BTW: The 1:1 transformer will not help as the ground from the URI still needs to be connected to the radio for proper operation of the control signals COR and PTT and the isolation action of the 1:1 xfmr will be defeated. Another approach would be to drive the TX modulator directly and not use the mic input. Steve WA6ZFT The asterisk computer is powered by a local AC outlet and the DC supply shares the same AC circuit. The AC and DC grounds are bonded. The DC supply also floats about 650 amp hours of battery back up. Even with all the batteries, I never had any luck using a inverter or a UPS tied to the DC buss. I thought it would be nice to power the windows based echo link computer from a computer grade UPS (or inverter) that uses the main DC supply with the batteries. But it introduces to much noise into the system that seems to only shows up on the UHF machines. So I have to have battery back up for the PC's separate of the system. Has anyone ever tried a "Car Computer" case that is designed to run off of 12 volts DC? I should have some time Wednesday night to try all of the suggestions, Thanks again. I've got two nodes: 2586 and 27036 Both sit on the same LAN. Is it possible to connect one to the other (link) them over the LAN while they are still reachable from the Internet via ALLSTAR public node list You can see my attempt below that is failing across the LAN. I don't know if it is failing because the same node number is also in the public IP/ public nodelist. Is there a way to 'locally' override the public node list so it's number is reachable 'locally' via lan or VPN? Or do local type nodes need to not also register with ALLSTAR LINK? In this example I'm trying to make outbound link to node 2586 which is at 10.73.73.9 internally.. Back on node 27036 in it's config I of course am pointing back to 2586 at it's internal IP (not shown here). Updating Asterisk

Hi all, Do I need to completely rebuild the system from CD created from a newly downloaded ISO to update my node to the latest build? Or, can I do it from the comfort of my desk by using the method given on the developer section of the QRVC website? I tried to update the app_rpt app, which worked fine but I wanted to use the new "CTCSS encode only when RX mute open" feature. This didnt work for me so I figured I needed to update chan_usb as well but there are some errors that get reported when I try and make it. Thanks, Matt
