Hi All, Can anyone shed any light on what might have happened here? [Aug 19 18:43:55] ERROR[2728] chan_usbradio.c: HID process has died or something!! [Aug 19 18:43:56] WARNING[2713] app_rpt.c: rpt_thread restarted on node 2481 [Aug 19 18:43:56] WARNING[17714] chan_usbradio.c: Loaded parameters from usbradio_tune_usb2481.conf for device usb2481 . [root@Bride asterisk]# I was alerted to it by a node re-connection announcement (nodes are linked using ilink,13 - permanent connection). I confess that the Asterisk apps might be running on an underpowered machine but that same machine has been in use for over a year on an older version of app_rpt. This problem has only become apparent since I installed the latest and greatest ISO the other day. Perhaps the new features are making things work a little harder than previously. Time for a replacement machine perhaps. BTW, I l-o-v-e the error message "... has died or something" :-) Inspirations anyone? David Osborn GD4HOZ

Asterisk on Xen DomU?

I've been trying to install Asterisk/AllStar on my existing X server. The purpose of this is to create a conference bridge, and eventually link it to an existing IRLP/Echolink conference. In time, I hope to run multiple conferences on the server and provide AllStar support for a few conferences. Anyway, I have one show stopping problem and some queries. The show stopper is ztdummy. When I attempt to load it, it causes a kernel panic. The "known issues" so far discovered date back to 2007. Anyone able to unearth any more on this issue? The queries are to do with how I link to the IRLP/Echolink reflector. chan_echolink would be the obvious choice, but to make this work, I would have to bind the Echolink ports to a single IP, so they don't conflict with Echolink on other IPs on the same system. Is this possible? chan_irlp would probably be more problematic, and again it would need to be bound to a specific IP. It would be nice to have some sort of "raw" Speak Freely, RTP or Echolink support, to allow "off grid" links, like I use with thebridge and thelinkbox. IRLP Disconnects and Audio problems

I am having trouble with Allstar not having any audio coming back and out going is very weak. Is there a echo type server to test ones audio? The IRLP side works fine. Also, when someone connects on IRLP it disconnects them. I can connect somewhere and it will stay linked. Are there some parameters that I missed for both problems in one of the .conf files? Strange oscillation

I am still testing my hardware here on a dummy load and having strange behavior. First, my hardware: Dell P3 1.13GHz server, 1gb RAM, 36gb SCSI drive, installed via ACID CD. URI interface, output cable about 6 inches long, twisted but not shielded. Motorola Radius M120 UHF turned down to 20W. Set as a simplex link and the channel is set to carrier squelch. Set my audio levels using a Motorola service monitor. Sometimes when the radio transmits I get clear voice. Most of the time there is a noticeable low frequency oscillation on the signal and the audio is unreadable. Almost sounds like mid-rpm engine ignition noise if that helps paint a cleare picture of the sound. RX seems good, I am listening using iaxrpt on the pc and can hear myself slightly delayed and clear. I tried a couple ferrites on both sides of the URI with no change. I also noticed that sometimes the 'connected' announcement has a ripping or tearing sound to it as well as stuttered courtesy tones on occasion. I am wondering if my server just isn't fast enough or if the URI needs a 2.0 USB port to plug into. Any thoughts folks? -Shawn Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

I think were making good progress on the new system turn-up. As far as I can see, all the base functionality seems to be there and working. We are not referring to any new features that have been requested since the system cut-over (of course). The only thing I would like to see a few more of is the systems ability to successfully generate a valid configuration for a server as a result of configuration entry on the Portal and download and successful use of server-downloaded files. In other words, can sever of you create a completely new install, using the new release(s) and make a completely new system using a server-downloaded configuration?? Obviously, this has worked for me over and over again, but Id like to see others have success with it also. JIM WB6NIL

A few questions about migrating old nodes

I have a couple of questions on old node migration. 1) I have a box in London that has 2 nodes on it. I have created a server for this box and attached the 2 nodes to it: 2379 and 2416. On the stats page it shows both nodes in London, the location I assigned the server. I would like the 2379 node to show a different location. How can I get it to show this? Should I have set up a separate server for each node and set the location I want to be displayed? If this is the way to do that then how do I remove a node from the server I setup? 2) At another site I have a box with 3 nodes, 2357, 27185 and 1801 a private node. When I make the server for this box do I need to attach the private node as well as the other 2 nodes? can I leave it off? Thanks, Jon VA3RQ
