Is it possible to disable the T X E N A announcement when re enabling the transmitter? I have a script which disables the transmitter and re-enables every time that I switch channels on my remote base. It is sort of annoying that it goes throughout all links that have telemetry enabled. 73 Skyler

Problems surrounding Dial with service asterisk stop and start along with restart

Greetings I have found an issue today on a pure dial install out in a Data Center environment where service asterisk stop and service asterisk start did not work.. Anyone else having these issues with Dial? WHat happen to any audio received by the network when in disable mode? IS it still present at the URI? Does the link that are present stay connected or they disconnect? I need this so that I can figure out if it is more effective to use a pair of small relay to cut the audio lines and ptt lines when the MMDVM is active or doing it by software. thanks Pierre VE2PF

Connecting several sites together on a hub using link radios

Hi guys... I am in the midst of deploying a 5 site system. All of the sites with the exception of my own will be using link radios sitting on the repeater pair, some sites do not have internet access so this is the only option. Each node will be permalinked to our hub. What we discovered when we brought site number 3 online was the dreaded "ping-pong" effect, and I did some digging and found out about the rxondelay parameter, that seems to be the place to start with this. The other option we are considering is dropping the hang time off each repeater and using app_rpt to do hang time and courtesy tones instead (duplex = 1 instead of 0) but not sure that would work real well or be optimal. Anyone have any experience with a setup like this that can offer some advice? This is my first foray into this unfortunately, I've always just interfaced the radio or repeater directly to app_rpt in the past or through a controller so it's been a bit of a challenge. 73 Stephen K1LNX

Further on my previous post to the board.. Has anyone used a BG7TBL GPS as a timing device for a voter board? http://www.ebay.com/itm/121530825744 I see it delivers NMEA output, but the 1PPS spec is Square Wave 3.3Vpp. This concerns me as I read on this post - http://ohnosec.org/pipermail/app_rpt-users/2016-March/013786.html That the RTCM/Voter boards require 5V coming in on the 1PPS line. Has anyone had it working? This would be a good alternative to the Garmin GPS units as it also gives me the 10MHz I need to lock my transmitter on frequency. Another benefit is that only the GPS antenna is exposed to the weather elements rather than the whole GPS unit of a Garmin. The cable run for our GPS unit will be about 10 metres or so. Has anyone had any issues extending the cable length of a Garmin 18x LVC unit? Hayden

Voter delay and Asterisk question

Hi All, I've been playing around with my voter boards recently that I've constructed. I've been able to get the GPS and voting working, and interfacing with Allmon to show voted stations. I initially had DIAL running on an i7 with about 8GB of RAM. Way too much and overkill, but it was all I had at the time. I did some limited testing and it appears that I was able to put the buffer values as low as they would go according to this page, as I was only testing on my local network (3ms ping) - http://ohnosec.org/drupal/node/195 I set TX buffer to 480 and the RX to 120. With the i7 I could not detect any echo and switching was rather fast. However I changed to a RPi3 using the same settings. I can now hear some echo, especially if I let go of the button quickly. Whilst it is preventable (leave a short silent gap), I would of thought that over my local network with minimum values I would experience close to zero echo. Perhaps the processing power of the Pi3 is now the holdup?? Also, when voice idents are made, the tail timer runs at the end of the ident. This is not normal operation compared to most controllers, when an ID is sent, it does so and the PTT drops at the end of the ID. Can you also have more than one ID, for instance an initial ID when the repeater hasn't been used in x amount of time, and a regular ID that is used and inserted between conversations? I also run all of my CTCSS encoders in a way that they follow receiver activity (the Arcom RC-210 does this too). That way we can use it for linking and avoid sending idents and courtesy tones/tails over links. Can this be implemented in rpt.conf somewhere? Regards Hayden

URI sending courtesy tone every 3 seconds

Hi, I have a Pi3 that I am interfacing with a URI. In my experimenting, something happened and the URI now sends the courtesy tone every 3 seconds. When the cable/radio is hooked up, it constantly transmits (radio gets hot!). So, I disconnected the radio and rebooted the node (several times)... same thing. It keeps sending the courtesy tone. Anyone seen this or have a pointer for me? Thanks, Doug KI7DQG
