If a user wants to try out Allstar or connect to an Allstar node to talk to a buddy they could use Echolink by connecting to the many nodes that support it. My vote for what it counts would be to take it off allstarlink.org altogether. issues getting a kg-uv6d working with all star link

greetings all, I hope someone can help me with this problem I’ve spent months researching and trying ideas to fix without any luck. I have a raspberry pi 3 running dial connected via a usb radio interface by dmk engineering to a Wouxun kg-uv6d. Things are working only half way. Outgoing audio from the pi to the radio is working fine, but not the other way. I can not get audio to go from the radio back into the pi so those on all star link and echo link can hear what is going on on the frequency the radio is set to. my thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer, Ben, (kd8tig)

Spurious Echolink Disconnect

Has anyone dealt with the following error lines from ?? [Apr 12 11:43:35] ERROR[840] chan_echolink.c: Cannot find DB entry for IP addr 128.235.36.233 [Apr 12 11:45:40] WARNING[875] chan_echolink.c: countdown for KF5VH(128.235.36.233) negative The above seem to be generated with an associated uncommanded Echolink Disconnect. The connection to a PC running DIAL was attempted from the PC Echolink software, using a public proxy, disconnect seems to happen in less than 90 seconds. Connections from the PC to other Echolink servers work without problem. The lines are from /var/log/asterisk/messages. The IP address, I believe, is from the proxy server. There are no recent changes, but I don't know how long this has been happening. Any pointers appreciated. ...STeve - KF5VH

If I had to take a guess, it is that your COR or PTT lines from your Pi controller arrangement are normally low or whichever state (not an electronics guy) that it is not in until the apparatus is initialized by bringing the system online. App_rpt can generate some noises at startup, like, an announcement, IP address playout, etc, and it could sound like noise if this is blown way out with your tx volume way up to compensate for RX being too low, but, then your courtesy tones or other things would sound like exploding static as well. I have run into the line thing trying to retro this in place of a device with an embedded controller or modifications that were made by others in the past. Maybe that is it? Adam KC2YQF

Need help - Unexplained noise at startup or asterisk restart

I have a new installation of RPi2-3_V1.5rc2_Allstar.img on a RPi2 with a Repeater Builder RB-USB-RIM (v1B). Whenever (re)start asterisk, the PPT keys and I get several minutes of noise sent to the radio, followed by the node id and then it unkeys and seems to behave properly from then on. I am too much of a newbie at Asterisk and Allstar but learning fast. I am a Linux expert. Anyone have a clue whats going on here? I can include config files if needed. I have attached the output from an asterisk -R window during the reboot. -Doug- KD7DK

Node tail/hangtime settings

G'day all, I am looking to minimise the node tail or hangtime after a transmission has ended. It currently seems to hang on for about a second or more after the transmission has ended while trying to maintain some telemetry on my node (mainly connection announcements). These are some of the settings I have modified in my rpt.conf file to try and achieve zero or minimal hangtime: duplex=1 hangtime=0 nounkeyct=1 I have also tried changing wait_times settings but don't seem to be able to reduce it any more than about a second in this mode. I think that I am able to achieve almost zero tail by setting the following: duplex=0 startup_macro=*933 I need to do some further testing, but this seems to work. I am wondering if there is a better way of doing this. 73, Leighton VK2LI

event subsystem variable use in system call

I am learning about the event subsystem. One of my events looks like this: echo bla ${RPT_ALINKS} >> /tmp/blabla = s|T|RPT_NUMLINKS This executes when I connect. The contents of /tmp/blabla is simply bla. I would have expected ${RPT_ALINKS} to have been expanded. Am I assuming functionality that doesn't exist? Lowell

Unable to drop link connection

I am running DIAL on a fanless computer node. Twice now, my node was somehow connected to a remote hub...say 42000. The Allstarlink bubble screen showed 42996 connected to 42000. I tried : disconnect 42000 Telemetry was 42000 disconnected from 42996 Traffic was still being heard from 42000 Still showing connected on bubble screen disconnect ALL links......no change disconnect last permanent link connection...no change SSH's into node, issued REBOOT. All clear, no connection heard or shown. How is it that somehow a remote connection was made to me at 42996 without any way to disconnect from my side? I did not have SSH/CLI running to see what transactions occurred during setup of this connection. Any ideas? Duane KA1LM 42996
