How much Data on average would a remote receive site use in a month? Trying to determine in case i can't get unlimited internet at our receive site.

Nodes with Traffic

The biggest problem with a large net like the Alaska Morning Net is that you have stations coming in from IRLP, Echolink, Allstar, Phone, and other means. Some with great audio and some with audio so bad you can hardly understand what they are saying. Even the net controls often have lousy audio or connections. Level is the biggest problem. Lower is better than higher. Digital networks need headroom! There is nothing more grating than clipped audio! If you don't tell someone they have bad audio they may never know. Nodes with Traffic

Hi, I installed a node on a repeater with little traffic. I want to play a lot of stuff so people scanning through the repeaters hear something and then go there and hang out on that repeater. What allstar nodes can I connect to that have a lot of traffic? ECHOLINK choppy audio on XIPAR

Hello all.. I have been running the Acid version for a couple of years with 2 nodes and echo link with no problems.. I switched to XIPAR to play with the voting.. When i set everything back up I have clean audio from the all-star box through echo link to my iphone/ipad/or computer etc.. but the audio from ipad/iphone/computer anything from echo link inbound to the allstarlink is choppy and makes the courtesy tone go off as i am trying to talk. Like a CHURCHUNG.. i have played with the ER gain and tx gain for echo link until i am blue but no success.. Below is a snip it of rot debug if anyone can see anything wrong? all ports are forwarded correctly any thoughts? Allstar Telephone Portal

Hi, I dont know if i am Here right, but i try to ask. Our repeater Works Fine, but we have a problem with the allstarlink telephone Portal. Our repeater cannot be connected from telephone. I can call the German Portal number , Type in Node 40636, Connect 1, Security Pin xxxxxxxxxx, and at Last 1 for Voice operated. Then i wait 30-60 seconds -> Telefone Signal is Busy and i must hang up. Port 4569 is in the firewall configurated. Is for the Telefone Portal an Other Port necessary? Simple I/O interface

Hi, I have some cooling fans. I would like to have the fans turn ON when the radio transmits, and stay on for sixty seconds after the radio stops transmitting and then turn off. I would like to use the I/O interface on my URIx. (The I/O will then trigger a Solid State Relay ,and then turn on the Fans) How can I do this with the software? Can I write it with Scripts? I use a Digi-Key 723-1191-ND 113f Normally open thermostat that will cycle even a large 12v fan easily as it warms up, then shut off as it cools down. This has none of the energy loss from running it full time or via a resistor at half speed. In most cases it will need to be keyed down for 10 min + for it to even turn on, and then it will run 10 min to cool it down and shut off. It will then cycle about 5 on/5 off for the rest of the key up time. Of course this doesn't answer OP's question. Hi, First time sending a listing here, this was suggested by one of the admins when I emailed them with my findings, I'm sorry if I am repeating anyone, I have not had a real good look at the archives. I am trying to set up app_rpt and ascociated stuff on an Odroid U3. for those who do not know what one is, the basics are, a quad core 1.7ghz arm thing with 2gb of ddr ram and 3 usb ports. A lot of work has gone into creating different flavours of linux to suit this thing. Anyway, I settled on the Fedora mix as it is closest to centos (and where asterisk was born historically to my understanding). Briefly, to save everyone reading quite a large email, here is what happened: * Got the kernel source, and allstar source * Modified Zaptel to work with the new kernel and installed it. there is a work around (that involves writing a bash script) to make it work with udevadm * Modified Chan_Usbradio.c with a couple of includes, and took the references to Limey out of it * Had to install the Alsa-oss wrapper And it all worked. However. Noticable is a slight jitter every now and then, and the volumes have to be set fairly high to do any good After doing a bit of mucking around, it appears the Alsa-oss wrapper is interrupting the audio stream quite nicely. I did get all this running on a pi with ast 1.6 and the version of rpt/usbradio that is in its source and had the same problem but the jitter was more pronounced. So, Back to the drawing board. OSS went propriety and hence, was dropped by linux. However a little while ago, the company that bought it, turned it back to the GPL from version 4. Reading the documentation, it also brings back the legacy /dev/dsp# devices, as links not wrappers or emulators!! So the next task is to remove all alsa rubbish, and re-compile the kernel with oss4 and then see how we go again.
