They don't do them as a kit anymore so build issues are not a problem (dear god how they were!) They are all SMT for the most part (less/no microphonics), and they switched the final transistor from case-collector to a case emitter (BeO insulated) so the final transistor does not have RF on the case anymore. It's direct FM, not PM. The only thing I use the amp/limiter for is the local mic, and I'm not going to be doing local mics on my repeaters going forward. All this said, hamtronics needs a small (BRASS) box they can sell to mount the boards in. I've made one out of PCB but it's not perfect and quite ugly. I detest wires soldered to the boards in an enclosure so I use some header pins and solder those to the feed-through filters between the segments. I remove the stupid phono connectors and put a proper SMA in place, and convert the unit so the PLL is always powered. I rip out the uP and dip switches and they are not needed (I'd asked hamtronics to modify their code to change R from /2048 to /2000 and they said it was going to take weeks and cost thousands to do it! Sucks but for $200 bux I got it going with a PIC 16f88). Couple this with a thunderbolt 10MHz GPSDO, and you have a frequency stability in the mHz (that's milihertz). Now I don't have a simulcast system online yet (working on the prime site now), but I expect everything should work. I could be wrong and have already been a few times, but it's a big experiment :) There are few commercial 220 repeaters out there, and even fewer that can take an external 10 MHz reference. You can convert/buy a micor to 220, but it's a 40 pound and 50 year old radio. By time you add in the cost of proper channel elements from ICM it's not worth it. The hamtronics exciter/receiver are "pure"; no extra crap, no stupid motorola design issues, if you need to modify it it's easy to get at basic parts. It's the basic building blocks, and no more. Using a transistor would be wise even if the rtcm can do it. Assuming one knows about the rxboost=x setting in the usbradio.conf. The URI has 2 audio inputs, pin 21 and pin 9. Pin 21 is padded, pin 9 is not. Motorola's work well on pin 21, but occasionally it may be necessary to use pin 9 along with some minor modifications to properly adjust rx audio. In this case, look at the RIM from repeater builder. It has only one audio input and a selectable audio input attenuator. You don't need any extra parts or mods. Their input attenuator works well with a URI. The RIM has some other unique advantages one might consider. Voter Question- Thru Hole Version

Hi, I believe this is my first post I got my thru-hole version of the voter board built and the latest firmware loaded. USB FOB options

snarl.. just bought two CM-119 USB FOBs locally and they're potted... tempted to fling them in the bin.. growl... Paint stripper, heat, and solvent won't get this snot off.. cue FBH but hey I have self control!!!! Ok what are my options? This old POS 1990's computer has a parallel port. Maybe easier to just get the proper USB FOB from elsewhere than hax0r up some parallel port lovin, but not keen on the absurd freight from the US. First of all, the secret in iax_rpt_custom.conf refers to the password used by iax_rpt control op client to connect to your node... I recommend NOT using your root login password or the password assigned to your node number by allstarlink.org... this can be any password of your choosing.. Node number and password for registration of allstar on Xipar is stored in iax_registration_custom.conf ex: register=nodenumber:password@register.allstarlink.org Connection refused sounds like you do not have port forwarding set up properly.. Check your router or firewall to be sure that you have the iax port that you assigned on allstarlink.org forwarded to your server. 4569 is usually the default used, however some ISP's do block that port. You may have to switch to another port above or below. Motorola GM1200

Hi Guys, Is anybody using a Moto GM1200? I've just bought one, with the intention of using it with simpleusb and parport PTT and COR. Has anyone any information as to the pinouts? I tried connecting to you on web transceiver here and it connects but I cannot key. I can disconnect and connect but thats about it. I am not a big fan of web transceiver. I use iaxrpt. If you have a server that is the way to go. You can set it up in windows and access your nodes from anywhere. XIPAR Allstar Password where is it stored?

Okies, so these USB FOBs have a blob of hard (epoxy?) goop on the chip so I can't get at the pins. BUT, the device has two LEDs and four switches that go direct to the chip. Why do we need any more I/O than that? Do I even need access to the pins? I should be able to take PTT off one of the LEDs, and put COR onto one of the switches. Why not?
