It's not the idea of being cheap for me. It is as simple as I want to build it and experiment with it. If I was going to put it at a site I would then get something I knew was reliable but I plan on testing it in the shack for now and learn it.

What is the obsession with these FOBs? This community has a great source of quality interfaces, and there is NO reason not to utilize them. DMK doesn't HAVE to provide the URI, but thankfully they do. For all you who have bought knockoff FOBs with the hopes of them being a CM108, how much money have you wasted? If you are too cheap to buy a URI, go run an EchoStink node!

If you would like samples of some of the ones i have obtained,
thinking they were cm-108 based and they were not.....:(
i can send you a few for testing & evauation.
if it would make the fobs ezer to add since there seems to be a glut of the "clones" out there.
i have bought so many of these from the C.H.Ina co via the usual hong-knog souces.
i have a few so a wide and varried sample for testing is not a problem
they are just cluttering up the desk...

I agree the URI is no doubt the best route to go!
There is NO advantage to a CM108. Don't think for a min that being cheap is acceptable in this situation.
On that note, I do have 4 genuine CM108 fobs, NIB that I will sell for $25 each + $5 shipping.

I'm trying to see if anyone has ran into a problem with their URI not flashing, I’m wondering is there a test script or a way to test the URI?
Also, Is there some way to go into WinSCP and turn on the lights or troubleshoot the URI?

An off-topic post, which seems to be gaining interest amongst the
Allstar community...
I started working on a project called 'FREE STAR*" about a year or so
ago. FREE STAR* was an attempt to build a vendor neutral digital
communication network and allow bridging between various VoIP protocols
that are in use amongst radio amateurs today (app_rpt, IRLP, D-STAR, etc.).
