Hi, A couple observations; I wonder if anyone else has noticed these, or if I'm forgetting something important. This is with app_rpt version 0.254: ID's: If someone is long-winded (I've noticed this only with incoming links on Echolink, so not sure if it can be generalized), the standard ID plays over whoever is talking, even if talkover ID is set. So, I have a sound file for my regular ID, and a morse string for talkover ID. If the voice ID starts and someone keys up, as expected, the morse ID takes over. However, if polite ID expires and some ratchet jaw is still ratchet jawing I guess, the regular ID, rather than the talkover ID, plays. Macros: Apparently, macros at least don't like having the digits A, B, C, or D in them, nor do they appear to like being started with a 0 digit. I just thought of this, does the leading 0 indicate a shortcut everywhere (i.e. "last connected node), or is that just for connect/disconnect? Yup, just reconfirmed it. The ID was running after it timed (rptr was quiet), I kerchunked while it was running, and it started all over again. It was the initial ID, not the talkover- I have them saying 2 different cw strings

okay.. I set the idtime=1000 for testing purposes. I started Asterisk. Ker-chunked the input freq and heard the normal voice id. After that was done, and the repeater Tx had stopped, I keyed-up on the input freq and kept the signal there for a little while and then heard the morse ID, just like I would expect. again... whats the problem?? Instead of Morse, it talks all over the QSO in progress (impolitely). I had assumed I made some mistake somewhere when I heard this ... The timeout message (with voice ) ID also talks on top; but that is probably OK - except when you have allegedly disabled the time out ... Would like equipment suggestions

Good Morning, I have node 27129 working just fine at home using an older P4 PC, but now want to move this functionality to the repeater site. I was thinking that a laptop and DMK interface would probably work the best, with possibly a broadband USB stick for internet access. Granted a lower-tier broadband service would probably cost a little per month, it should be easier than running a seperate RF link back to my house and using that broadband connection. Coverage at the site is no problem. I'm asking what others are doing in regards to PC equipment. I'm aware of the Mini-ITX boards and CF, but what specs should I look for in a used laptop thinking it would mostly be self-contained and quieter than a PC? If I use the broadband service, then I only need one DMK for the repeater, otherwise with the RF link I would need two. The PC would be housed in the same rack cabinet as the repeater. Is this a good idea? Remote control is another concern - how are some of you doing that? I'm comfortable with Linux, PuTTY, etc. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Tony

two computer sub net

I am guessing that if you have your asterisk system divided into two computers, you need to use two different port numbers for IAX to work. ? I think I read this in some posting that I can no longer?find. ? The default is port 4569,?so I suppose the second one might be 4570 or 4568? ? Can I ask a system admin to arrange for 27061 to use a different port and let me know where to change the port number in my set up? ? Thanks Ken ? PS: how about a feature - default secondary port number that can be used without special intervention?

Hard Disk Options

Ok, managed to talk with our repeater group and decided to move foward with using apt_rpt for our controller. I've managed to snag a decent intel atom D510 board and 4gb of ram for it as well as a direct 12v power supply. Now we are wondering about a hard drive option, USB Flash Drive, CF Card Solution, SSD mini-PCI card, what would you suggest for the longest life and least amount of headaches? I plan on running as much of the filespaces in a ramdrive that I can to reduce access to the SSD device. Thanks! Keith Dobbins A.S. This really should be in the instructions somewhere - but, basically, you follow the instructions for a two node system (could be followed for N nodes actually) http://app-rpt.qrvc.com/node/49 the trick is pick a node number <1999 and follow the instructions except do *not* put in the entry for iax.conf and in the [nodes] section not the node section (!) you have two types of entries possible example [nodes] 1625 = radio(a)192.168.1.109/1625,NONE ; 27061 = radio(a)127.0.0.1/27061,NONE ; the one with radio(a)127.0.0.1 says to go look up that node's address in a file that gets downloaded from the allstar server the one with radio(a)192.168.1.109/ says to use this specific and forever unchanging address for that node. Of course, you fill in your own particular box's IP address If your router changes the node number of your box, this will stop working. I have a UPS on my router. not registered nodes

Can someone remind me what you have to do to arrange for two asterisk boxes, behind the same NAT router, to connect, without involving the registration server? I cannot find it, but think that you put the LAN IP addresses somewhere in the config files in place of something else. Tnx Ken

Node Disconnect

I created a permalink using ilink,13 and I'm still having the same problem with disconnects. Anyone else have any ideas?
