Hello folks, I've done some configuring of my nodes, and I'm having trouble getting the two I'm currently running to register. The nodes in question are 28713 and 28910. I have set the proper port in my router, but it's not seeming to work at the moment. Matthew Pitts N8OHU

Reading over the documentation it's still unclear if I can run Limey Linux download from Allstar link download page on a IntelD525 motherboard? And what steps do I need to follow? Do I need a running Linux system or can I use an OSX machine to unpack the download from Allstar link page onto a USB drive or a memory card then put the card into the D525 motherboard? I am about to grab some hardware and jump in but not sure yet what I need to grab. Many thanks Dave VE7PKE Sent from my iPad

I am completely new to Allstar and hope that you will excuse what some will think is a stupid question. We have three repeaters on the same pair that we wish to link together in a voted simulcast configuration. I inquired about using our existing RC-210 controllers and was asked why I wanted to use a controller when Allstar can do such a great job. I am sure it can but I am curious how we get our phone patch and our weather receivers integrated, as well as RF links. As an ECOM repeater service these are important to us. Simple is of course better but like I said I am completely green. I read that there is a piggy back device that allows the repeater to share a controller with a RTCM -- is that still an option? IAXRPT on MAX OSX Mountain Lion using Winebottler

I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to get IAXRPT running on my Mac. I can get it to launch but when I try to setup the audio devices the usual suspects are not there. Just blank drop down menus. I can use the Web tranceiver on Allstar to connect to nodes, but would like to get a standalone app running. If there is a better option that I can run native in OSX I am pleased to try that. When I was chatting tonight to VA3VD and VA3MPG they mentioned this might be a known issue but did not have an immediate solution. Once I get the audio devices running then next step is figure out how to set up an account so I can access the public nodes. I can be pretty dense most days and have not seen any documentation about how to get it accessing the public nodes on Allstar or are those only accessible through the web transceiver. I will get my own node up soon as Ramesh releases the RPI code. ;-) Thanks Dave

Thanks for the reply. Also is there a easy way to add a Group2 to the menu bar to have a separate grouping of nodes. I tried adding [Group2] and the node numbers I wanted. But no go. Ian Ki6ies

Update on the Pi

OK Guys; Sorry about the IP address change! - I was deliberately keeping the Pi 'dynamic' with the intent of imaging it when we are ready. Having said that, I have set a static IP address - node 29109 can now be accessed directly... I have limited cycles, so I'm not always monitoring. A couple of you were able to connect yesterday (before the darn IP changed!) - the lucky few were able to listen to my audio.... it is not perfect - especially the received audio (i.e., audio into the network). However, the intent of the demo yesterday was to demonstrate that this is an active project (not vapor-ware!)... we do have a Pi operational - with issues - it is as they say, "Work In Progress" Initially, the TX audio (i.e., audio out of the local transmitter) was also raspy - use of an externally powered USB hub cleared up the TX audio. Unfortunately, the hub had little to no affect on the RX audio. We (mostly Jim, and me to a lesser extent) are working on it.... but we are both busy - and 'tis the season to be busy! We are not ready to publish / post an image just yet.... some of you know me from my FREE STAR* project, nothing leaves my "lab" until I have fully tested and documented it. It's that simple; right now, we are in development and testing. We realize that there is huge interest in the Pi at the moment - I do support the Pi with an image, installation script and documentation for my FREE STAR* project (http://www.va3uv.com/iso.htm) When we are ready and feel that the product is ready for field testing, we will gladly make it available in a similar fashion.
