Interfacing with vx7000 Yaesu repeater

Has anyone interfaced a DMK URI and Vx7000 I would like to have the computer at the site instead of doing it remotely. Would you use the ACC connector on the rear of the repeater or the rj45 plug on the rear of the machine. Any Help would be great. Bradley kc9gqr

Kenwood ™-V71 and D710 Remote Base

I picked up a Kenwood ™-V71 Dual Band radio here this week to play with.. It has a full rs-232 serial port on it and supports CAT control. For grins i tried the kenwood control mode in app_rpt and it failed…. running minicom I am able to control it just fine.. can do all the control functions. Looking at the CAT file the commands are the same for the ™-v71 and ™-d710.. I am wondering if somebody would be able to be able to make an update to the control code to add this radio to it's base of control radios.. I have attached the PDF with the commands.. Simplex Radio Advice

Within the last week I have set up an AllStar node and am very happy with it. When I installed it I had a DMG URI attached to the computer but no radio. I am ready to pick a radio and I would like to ask for your advice. I already have a dual band HT but have no experience with base station or mobile radios. AllStar system is going to be for home use and for other AllStar nodes to be able to access my local repeaters. I would like a mobile radio so that I can use it in emergencies in my car.. I want to have a simplex system. I am considering the following radios: Yaesu 2900 - single band (2M), simple, inexpensive but no data port. This is the simplest way to go and the microphone connector may be used to create a cable to connect to the URI. Yaesu 7900 - dual band, data port with single TX/RX plus cross band repeater - simple, dual band and has a data port. Yaesu 8800 - dual band, data port, cross-band repeater, two RXs and one TX. I am leaning toward this model because as I understand it, I can monitor AllStar through the secondary radio while I am using the main to talk locally. I could then switch the main to the AllStar connection if I desire. to talk there. However, the Yaesu documentation seems to indicate that anytime you are transmitting that signal goes through the data port. I am not sure I want that. Does anyone use the Yaesu 8800 or 8900 for this purpose? If so could you let me know how it actually works? Yaesu seems to be popular radio here, but I have heard that Kenwood and iCom are better radios but their price may be an inhibiter. Squelch Noise with RTCM

Hi, Been playing with the RTCM and it is working fine. Except, I can not get ride of the squelch crash. I have experimented with threshold timing in voter.conf with no luck. Anything else I should adjust? Thanks Chris KB2FAF

Voicemail on allstar repeater??

Hi all, I have setup voicemail on our Allstar repeater e.g i can call the voicemail by doing a *69999 with 9999 being the voicemail. I can hear the voicemail menu but none of my dtmf commands are accepted.. I thought that if i used the dtmf transmit comand it may work but it still does not work... Any ideas on how to pass dtmf to the voicemail? Regards Anthony, VK2ACP ..

iaxRpt weirdness

Hi Everybody, I'm hoping someone here has experienced this "problem" and can point me in the right direction, it's not a critical problem, more of an annoying one. I'm leaning towards a network issue on my PC. I have been using iaxRpt mainly for fun and as a diagnostic tool with my AllStar nodes... and mainly to listen to activity on the node. After configuring a new Mikrotik router on my ham radio ADSL connection, I was using iaxRpt on my home office PC (Win7 64bit) which is "outside" of my ham radio network to make sure I had forwarded the correct UDP ports through to my nodes... and this is where I found a strange thing. I can connect to node 27871 and hear activity on the node OK... both local RF and incoming via the internet when connected to another node. But when I key up the node with the TRANSMIT button, the node transmitter seems to pulse on and off. Every few seconds I hear the unkey telemetry tone beep. The radio never fully unkeys, I hear interrupted audio and the beep. I then connected directly to the nodes internal IP address (not out through my main ADSL connection and back in the ham radio ADSL connection) and it does the same thing... when you key up the node "pulses"... so it's not an internet thing. My older laptop PC (WinXP) does not exhibit this problem... it works fine both coming in via the internet and a LAN connection directly to the node IP address. My PC at work (connecting via the internet) works fine too. I'm thinking that something is screwing up the UDP packet stream from this PC... but I have no idea what it could be. Any suggestions? I can connect both LAN and WAN on FreePBX, I can not connect either on ACID. Thanks for the help! Node radio

Hi, I'm in the process of setting up an Allstar node using a USB fob and when I get one an ex PMR radio. At the moment on my Echolink node I'm using a Yaesu FT-8900R radio which works very well. It is OTT though using a quad band radio as a link radio. Has anyone any knowledge if these radios can be used as a temporary fix until I can get another radio The Data jack pin outs are 1 packet data input, both 1200 and 9600 baud 2 signal ground 3 ptt (ground to tx) 4 9600 bps packet data output 5 1200bps packet data output 6 squelch Cheers Ken G0LCE

X Lite softphone on ACID

All, I would like to use several x lite softphones on my ACID box. I have done some research on the asterisk forums and added the following to my ACID distro. I can't get the x lite softphone to work. Can someone please check my work and see if I have missed something?
