URI Problem

Has anyone run across a URI that goes 'offline' every 3 to 4 days? A simple warm boot command or astres.sh will bring it back on line as well as unplugging the URI and plugging back in. There is no indication that it's not working to the online user. You can connect to the box but no audio (either direction) or PTT passes to the repeater until you reset it. I have installed ferrites on each end of the USB cable and on the control cable on the URI side but no change. Any thoughts? Thanks Duuuuude, I'm not necessarily talking about the Allstar Link, but app_rpt in general. We have a need for this here and I'm generally in favor of open access, but it's become a problem to leave it open with the default Allstar Link access codes. I'm looking for better flexibility in this regard. Would it be easy to take the remote base "login" functionality and apply it to certain sections of rpt.conf? user login prior to control codes?

As we've had some issues with people sending control codes into the system here and linking/unlinking major hubs I'm trying to figure out a better way than just prefixing the functions in rpt.conf with a code prefix (ie *3 becomes *443). Is there a way we can do this on a per user basis? Perhaps setting up a users file with a "PIN" and then requiring a user to "login" with this PIN prior to accepting any control codes? My ideal setup would be have one rpt_users.conf file (which should be changeable with out having to reload asterisk) [users] KB9MCI 12345 KQ4ERT 43567 KB8RET 54321 Then the users would key in #PIN, the system would auth them against the file, and upon authing them, it would respond "CALLSIGN authorized", the courtesy tone would change and the user would have 60 seconds to input the control codes. On the other hand I'd be happy with a way to do this on a per user basis for each command. For Example, *3 for kb9mci would become #12345*3. Call sign changes

File this under “Learn something every day"... Folks who have requested a call sign change have found that even after the Admin changes your call the status pages do not update. Turns out this a feature not a bug, of course :-). The call sign of your account is not the same as the call sign of your node(s). The idea is that you can operate multiple call signs under your one Allstar account, for example a club call, etc. To change your node’s call, go on the portal and bring up your node, then repeater settings. ACID Firewall Configuration and public IP (static connection w/o router)

The only information I've found regarding firewalls use with an Allstarlink.org server is with respect to a router and port forwarding. In the ACID build, the firewall seems to only address TCP for SSH, and not the UDP. Is the assumption here that all Allsterlink.org servers will be behind a firewall such as with a router? What about protection when the server is on a public IP address, statically set, without a router? What protection is afforded here? Is it then necessary to setup the ACID firewall with "Other ports" using "222:TCP 4569:UDP"? I only see "SSH" in the Allow incoming: section, and should eth0 be unchecked? Thanks, r/Bob kk6ecm

BBB node

I have an out bound squelch crash on a beaglebone black node using simpleusb. Audio source is gated, I've tried different radio's and squelch settings. I re-configured the node for usbradio using discriminator audio. The crash is gone, but it seems other anomalies have cropped up. Anyone having the same concerns?

PC or Beagle Bone Black? etc. Also usbradio or simpleusb? This is a common problem on the URI with external EMI and power spikes. The problem can be fixed. You need to ground everything and eliminate EMI as much as possible. The other issue is the USB not resetting when it has this problem. Most of the PC's will but probably not all. The next version of the BBB code coming out soon will reset fine. If you are using simpleusb there is a bug in the code that precludes a reset upon USB interruption. This fix will also be in the BBB code that is coming soon. If you want to fix a PC simplesusb installation here is the link - http://www.crompton.com/hamradio/BeagleBoneBlackAllstar/simpleusb-howto.pdf See how to do the patch at the end of the pdf. You should be able to pull the USB cable from the URI while in use (green light flashing normally) and reinstall the USB and it should start flashing again. If not then your system will not recover from USB EMI hits properly. It is always a good idea to try and fix or reduce the problem because in severe cases it would be resetting all the time. Node change from DHCP to Static

I'm sure this is elementary for most of you, but I am an amateur at Linux. I have a node I am moving and it will require a static IP at its new location. I understand the basics of the ip, Netmask, Broadcast,DNS etc, but just unfamiliar with how to change it and what files need to be changed? What files on both the Network device (ETH0) and the Asterisk side of things. System is a standard computer and URI.
