AllStarLink, Inc. - Who are we?

Since the untimely passing of Jim Dixon WB6NIL, AllStar Link has gone through many changes. The biggest one is - - this project is no longer the responsibility of one person or small group. While Jim always had folks helping with the administration of the website, approving new members, and issuing node numbers, writing code and doing updates and bug fixes was primarily his job. Since then, another group of individuals was assembled to carry on Jim's vision. The assembly of this group was done by Steve RoDgers, Jim's original partner in AllStar Link. The group has gathered together many talented people for both the admin team, and the development team. There are now over a dozen people helping with the project, and a lot of good things have already happened. The AllStar Link Network is stable, growing, and will be for years to come. This is the first of many announcements that will come from the only official source of AllStar - AllStarLink Inc. We've written a summary of the organization as it stands today. Raspberry Pi installing fresh.

Hello trying to help another ham operator with Allstarlink and for some reason the current raspberry pi version doesn’t seem to wan to cooperate.. I noticed asterisk is not running in the background I tried force starting with. Service asterisk start It hangs and does not start.. I have also gone through the configs changing node number and information to match the Allstarlink account.. Continued issues with this.. ASL version

hi all, recently downloaded and installed the newer ASL version from allstarlink.org. it sets up nicely however, an issue i'm missing something is, I have two nodes running on it i can connect out to other nodes but cannot connect internally between the nodes on the same server. everything looks right but it gives me "call rejected by 127.0.0.1, no such context/extension". been through the extension.conf several times and can't see what's missing. anyone else seen this before...thanks

Mixed technology RTCM voting

Greetings, A local conventional repeater is using an RVS-8 voter on the receive side, connected to a typical repeater controller. All 8 ports are in use, which restricts further expansion. I would like to suggest moving to RTCM voting, but that would obviously take time (and money). I am wondering if anyone has ever taken the output of a conventional voter such as the RVS-8 and connected it to an RTCM to act as the central site, then converted receive sites one at a time to RTCM voting? This would allow the repeater system to continue operation with RF links, allow for conversion to RTCM voting one site at a time (making sure stable internet connectivity exists), wouldn’t bust the budget all at once and allow for testing of additional receive sites and their effectiveness in the system. Anybody ever try something like this? Thanks and 73, Kevin W8KHW

Node locks into tx on link connect.

I have a multi node x86 system running All Star Link 1.01. I setup 3 node on the system 46100 and 46101 which are full duplex repeaters and 46111 which is a remote base. When I add 46110 which is another remote base and copy the stanzas for 46111 into the conf files as soon as I connect 46110 to another node it keeps any node it's connected to keyed up. 46111 works perfectly fine when connected to other nodes on the system. I've tried watching the messages in Asterisk and I can't find anything causing this. I've redone the files numerous times, rebooted, swapped URI's, unplugged the radios, swapped USB cables, changed USB ports and it still does this and the issue stays on node 46110. All the devices are hooked into the computer direct with no hubs. I had this happen on DIAL too but then decided to upgrade to ASL 1.01 and rebuilt the original files that came with ASL 1.01 because my old files would cause this even when swapping them into ALS 1.01. Repeater settings questions...

I just set up Allstar as repeater controller for the 1st time. I have done a few simplex setups. I have some questions.. Why does the courtesy tone follow the hangtime? Shouldn't it come after the station unkeys? Is the cwid speed capped at 20WPM? I know the rules about it but if I try setting higher, nothing changes.. Other than that, all makes sense and seems to perform well.. Greg

If I use usbradio driver and send ctcss, will CW id be played with or without ctcss? Can it be changed somewhere? Greg
