Spectrum issue

Spectrum forced a router reboot this morning. When it came back up I can't connect out or in. The port forwarding is still correct. On the nodelist my nodes are not shown with green background. On stats.allstarlink.org they are shown normally and uptime, etc is correct... Any thoughts? It's been 45 minutes or so since the router restart, and I have also given a restart to the router and the node computers. Suspecting Spectrum, was considering going back to AT&T... Didn't think any provider could be worse than ATT, but Spectrum sure is. When I called in to complain they guy actually hung up on me... Oh yeah, email, web browse, streaming radio/tv all work fine. rpt_extnodes not updating

Hi Guys: rpt_extnodes on one of my hub nodes (2200) is not being updated. I built this system on top of a stock Debian 9 OS' by following a procedure that was supplied here via the group. 2200 seems to be reporting in and shows as registered... Any ideas? Thx! Ramesh. VA3UV, WA3UV

I want to put a thank you out to Bryan and Fred that helped trouble shoot my issue. Turns out that the reason my node wasn't hitting the registration server is that I input an error when bringing ports through my router. So the issue was wholly on my end. IAX2 percieved not registered. Help

First of all I should say greeting to all in the group. I've been trying to get my first node up for the past few days to no avail. I can not get my node to show up on the ASL node list. I have heart beat, Can ping google can ping register.allstarlink.org when I show IAX2 registry I receive "perceived unregistered" https://imgur.com/a/YB5aq8t [https://i.imgur.com/DArxxor.jpg?fb]<https://imgur.com/a/YB5aq8t> Imgur<https://imgur.com/a/YB5aq8t> IAX not registering imgur.com I have compared my rpt.conf, extensions.conf, iax.conf, modules.conf, manager.conf, simpleusb.conf to another known working nodes files and can not seem to find anything i'm missing. Making a node with a baofeng 888s 2018 ver9 radio

Greetings, Has anyone come across this “new” variant of the 888s radio? I’ve been looking over the guide(s) on modifying them for use with AllStar and cannot for the life of me figure out where several of the signals can be picked up.. Here’s an image of the back of the main board in the radio: I’ve removed the 5 screws on this board but also cannot figure out how to liberate it from the heatsink/RF shield on the bottom of it. Anyone with some ideas or experience with this variant of the 888? I’m a bit lost. The Crompton guide (http://crompton.com/hamradio/baofeng888/ <http://crompton.com/hamradio/baofeng888/>) stops with the 2015 ver7 iteration of this radio. The little header/through holes used in the guides are not present, or I cannot find them. Thanks all! 73 KE8CGS

Using MQTT to monitor connection status

Here is a 1 minute video demonstrating another way MQTT can be used on your Allstar server. I am using it to monitor the connection status to other nodes. On the app side on the phone there is an icon that looks like an LED. If the node is connected to my node the LED is green. If it is not connected the LED goes to red. Additional alerts, vibrations, sound alarms, auto reconnect scripts and more could be set up, but just the visual indicator is enough for my use case. Notice though the delay.... it is only about 300ms between the connection status changing to the app seeing it. That is a pretty quick notification rate. The best thing about the MQTT protocol is that the system is so lightweight that you probably would not even see a 1% increase in system resource usage. Phone portal issue

We're aware of an issue with our provider for the 763-230-0000 and 509-ALL-STAR numbers fast busying. I've opened a ticket, not sure when it's going to have a resolution. Recording your QSO's as an MP3 file

I have put together a <15 minute tutorial on everything needed to record the QSO's on your Allstar node, move them to an internet accessible web folder and convert them from large .WAV files (the compression used is not all that bad really) into manageable .MP3 files that will play back simply through your browser. Apache2 (most likely have this installed already) 2. rsync (very small, lightweight and reliable) 3. ffmpeg to convert the audio 4. lame encoder to convert to mp3 codec Installation and configuration of everything is demonstrated in the YouTube tutorial video. I don't have a dog in this fight, I run neither application, though may in future. That said, it would seem to me that rather than sully the world of AllStar, the continual argument should be taken to the courtroom to be settled out. This means whomever has legal standing at Allstar, or Jim Dixon's heirs, should take JDM, HamVoip or whomever is the legal entity to court over the matter. The big question is who specifically has legal standing to do so. To outsiders like me, this makes the world of Allstarlink look pretty frightening and petty.
