Righto, I got most of it running. NOT for the inexperienced as the passwords are hidden deep in www conf dirs, and it exercised my find and grep skillz to the max! But therein is enough information for most l33t hax0rs to find it. Email me if you want to WORK on it and I'll be more concise. Help Tuning Stats Server

While Jim is in the hospital I'm attempting to get the new stats server working. But I'm out of my element here and need help. The new server is getting killed by all the status updates and requests. I'm not sure if Apache is to blame or if the server can't provide enough threads or just what the problem is. It looks like there is plenty of free memory. If you have experience with high volume CGI applications on Debian/Ubuntu please email me. -- Tim

Which extensible PBX?

Greetings, Which extensible PBX for general ham radio use? I mean, we have a couple specialised distros for app_rpt use, and that is good. But for other general usage, I tried XIPAR, pbxiaf, freepbx, and had a good read of a bunch of others. Most stuff is just plain broken, unsupported, installer is broken, insanely complicated, or some other very irritating combination of various breakages. There's so so so many interesting modules, toys, and apps, and adding them to ham radio would just be such a blast, but I emphatically do not look forward to building a larger system completely from scratch, nor do I look forward to being an admin on such a system. There are numerous projects lying adrift. Where is the hope? Steve

trouble shooting help please

Doug, Since I am using the Cepstal voice and your modified TTS script and it works fine playing the NWS and Underground forcast fine. However the alerts still don't work! I made sure that the alerts was turned on and the cron jobs was proper. How do I trouble shoot this? What files get created and where do they get put? Is there any way to force and alert test condition to see what is going on? I found this helpful with some of my allstar nodes.. Being able to see how much space is left on the hard drive etc.. along with what the outside temperatures roughly are.. Figured some of you might enjoy this.. If by SSD you mean compact flash, then, yes, I have had issues with those. They are convenient for being basically IDE, but, they have a limited write cycle and can get trashed up. I've had them also suddenly have all sort of I/O issues, but re-seating them returns them to normal. Regarding modern SSDs, I haven't had a failure, but there are some instances where you can grind their lifespan away with either bad firmware, or potentially a poor choice of application for them. It would be a feat to accomplish that with asterisk and app_rpt I would thing. Regards, Adam Pawlowski KC2YQF

Had an odd glitch on Saturday that crashed my HP ThinClient box that has SSD. After pulling Dandi and rebooting asterisk, it seems normal again. Anyone ever have SSD fail? The biggest issue with ezstream is that for some reason you get multiple instances of the program running.. Not sure exactly what would be the best solution to actually fix this but the cron script is a big bandage with duck tape.. I really wish I knew how to write code.. USB sound FOB lack of high frequency noise

I just put together a modified sound fob by taking a 10µF capacitor to the divider of 47k and 68k resistors and then to the microphone input of the sound fob, but I am getting the lack of high frequency noise error when I plug my fob into the radio. A DMK URI works fine. Has anybody else had problems with these sound fobs? 73 kd0whb
