Folks, will current distros of pickle, or whatever we use on the beagle boards run DSP for PL decode or noise squelch? I have a BeagleBoard XM and a BBB, about three months back version. I’d love to tuck one of these inside a Nokia BSR-450 repeater eliminating its squelch and PL encode/decode (well, it doesn’t have those)??? Thanks GeorgeC George J Csahanin W2DB 2360

OK - following on my previous posting I found my xml file was in the wrong place. But with it in the right place, I am getting: /usr/bin/ezstream: /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2: no version information available (required by /usr/bin/ezstream) ezstream: Connected to http://50.7.98.106:8426/live ezstream: Streaming from standard input This is when I try to run it manually. This seems like only a warning message and it says it is streaming, but when I start it from within app_rpt I get just continuous repeated restarts. It looks like a compatibility problem with libxml2 (?) my version of that would seem to be 2.6.26 This was an install from the "EZS" tarball linked from a previous posting. Thanks for any ideas. Ken

create inbound route

I am experimenting and wish to add an inbound route from a local asterisk PBX that is linked by iax trunk successfully. I just can't seem to find the info for making an inbound route to my allstar node. I wish for it to behave as an incoming autopatch call. Outbound I have figured out. Any pointer? Thanks Greg

Non Voting RTCM (just a basic node) On Existing Server

Gang... I have an existing server and node running on a PC at my repeater site. The IP is static. I want to set up an RTCM at home that runs from the server described above. Could someone please send me a rpt.conf file that has such a setup please? Reading the RTCM manual, it’s looking for a DNS entry for the hosting server. I don’t really need to use DNS if my server runs static IP? So any tips on setting up the RTCM networking would be helpful too. I have moved the node from it’s own server to the server at the repeater site on allstarlink.org. Hooking and interfacing to the radio is the EASY part. The config not so much. Any help or tips would be appreciated! Thanks! 73 Jim W7RY

RTCM Narrow band voting..

Hello we are working on a grant were we might be getting a stack of RTCM’s in for our amateur digital network. We currently have 18 XPR8400’s online running in IPSC mode. The channels are narrow band coordinated but we have also put analog channels in each of the repeaters so if poop happens we can flip from digital to analog. Our thought was to stick RTCM’s on the back of them to handle the analog side. And as we have some digital voted sites we would also then have analog remote RX’s.. We currently have a few analog sites running the RTCM’s for voting/simulcast now.. but those are on 25khz coordinated ham channels. where as this would be running narrow band. Just wondering the gotcha’s when setting levels on the gear for a 12.5khz vs 25khz channel and the Null’s... -- Fredric Moses - W8FSM - WQOG498 fred(a)moses.bz

timedatectl issue

Well I took a ride up to the site to either fix it or pull it. Thank you both. I was able to fix the time issue with multiple steps. 1. timedatectl set-time "2014-10-28 09:40:30" < My cut paste with the current date time 2. remove URI < by unplugging the USB 3. astres.sh < Restart Asterisk 4. wait 2 minutes plug in URI. 5. wait 3 minutes 6. key up the repeater and issued *81 << The time was close enough to correct I was happy with it. I also made a stop by the local ISP on my way back home. Just work nudge them and check their progress. Thank you again My test set for the new version of code should be ready to play hopefully by this weekend. (These details are provided by radioreference.com when you sign up to do a stream FREE (under the "Technicals" tab in the stream management section.) 5.) add the following to your /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf in the first section ex: above the status reporting section. "outstreamcmd=/bin/sh,-c,/usr/bin/lame --preset cbr 16 -r -m m -s 8 --bitwidth 16 - - | /usr/bin/ezstream -qvc /etc/ezstream.xml" *This should be all on one line ^^^* You may change the ezstream.xml name if you wish but also do so in the /etc dir, ex: if you had multiple streams/nodes to stream from. This setup is per node. btw sometimes I have had to set a cron to kill the ezstream each week or so - has not been an issue lately if you do notice it failing, the command is 'kill -9 $(pgrep ezstream)&' This will not break/stop ezstream but should restart it... Hi, Strictly speaking a router will always route all packets regardless of TCP port number depending on its routing table(because routers route IP packets only and it is TCP, which has a port number that is made up of IP packets hence the name TCP/IP) However our home internet ³routers² nearly always have firewalls built in along with NAT(Network Address Translation) capability. Normally the default firewall configuration on our home ³router² blocks all inbound packet flows which would stop any inbound IAX2 protocol flows from reaching the Allstar box and thus the repeater running allstar would be able to send packets to the allstar network but not receive any IAX2 packets back hence the Allstar connection would not work. There are normal at least two ways to get inbound connections (packet flows) to work on such home ³routers"; 1. Most home internet ²routers² allow a single IP address to be configured so the ³router" will send all inbound connections to this ip address. It is sometimes called a DMZ ( DeMilitarized Zone) ip address. However if you do this, there is nothing ³demilitarised" about this IP address. To all intensive purpose your Allstar box will be standing ³naked² on the internet with NO protection at all! So make sure you have a firewall configured on the Allstar box (that allows SSH and IAX2 connections) after you have tested this configuration. 2. Most home internet ²routers² allow you to configure inbound ports that the router will allow in through the firewall. This is much safer but may be harder to setup.Remember that because of NAT you will never see your internal home IP addresses on the Internet. What you will see is the IP address of the Internet connection that your home router is using. So your Allstar box will appear on the Internet to have the IP address of the home ³router².vOne tip to aid in testing the firewall setup is to use the IAX2ping tool on voip-info.org.
