radio-tune-menu error
by Benjamin L. Naber 20 Nov '13

20 Nov '13

this is new to me. Some things have changed. I have not had these errors when installed and setup my other two nodes in the first couple months of this year. I downloaded the configs from the portal, did the radio-tune-menu, and it went right to the menu on the other nodes. On the new node, I get: Error parsing device parameters I'm comparing the new node stuff versus the old, and the only thing different is the usb[nodenumber]. I did a lsusb, saw the device was plugged in, and same info as the other machine. ?????? ~Benjamin, K9LFZ

e2fsck
by Benjamin L. Naber 19 Nov '13

19 Nov '13

this is coming up when trying to boot a new install of Limey Linux last time I checked, e2fsck is for EXT2 and other Linux extensions, not FAT. Booting comes to a dead halt when the e2fsck checktime has been reached. Any way around this, or disable this checking when booting? ~Benjamin KB9LFZ

I am running the Limey VIA on a CA-22 using the flash that came with it with no problems. Tim has the same box running. I have also attached a lap top HD to it and installed ACID with no problems. The machine is a neoware thin client, CA-22, with 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 256MB flash. on my allstar node 28569, same physical setup, using Limey Linux for i686. the distro VIA version did not work at all. I'm using DamnSmallLinux on a thumbdrive on the designated machine to cfdisk the Disk-on-module, not compact flash or another USB thumbdrive, to delete what was on it, and format for FAT16. I tried also EXT2. If I had a USB to laptop IDE adapter with pins on it, I'd just connect the DOM to it and see what the main machine says with gparted or the other disk utility program. DamnSmallLinux and Puppy Linux do not have dosfsck support. I've been trying to get TinyCore to work, but that is not being my friend today. I have TinyCore that works fine for me on a few other thin client boxes with 128MB RAM and 65MB flash. anyway, I digress, I go right away into console when DSL boots. I "sudo su" then cd to the folders I have the Limey linux, or other embedded Linux .img files are in. the command I have used before was "dd if=cfimg-1.1.4_i686 of=/dev/hda" I've tried using "dd if=cfimg-1.1.4_i686 of=/dev/hda bs=16k" as that works for other embedded distro versions, but did not work here. I've never seen the e2fsck error before, even after reformatting the drive to be used. ~Benjamin, KB9LFZ On Mon, 2013-11-18 at 20:32 -0800, Tim Sawyer wrote: > Never seen a e2fsck problem. That format is only on the optical disc (or local loopback of the image file if you install that way). Typical thumb-drive images I've seen have a small FAT filesystem that boots and mounts the install iso image as lookback. The installer, as part of system setup/install formats the local storage device (typically /dev/hda or /dev/sda) in a Linux file format. These days either EXT2 (non-journaled) or EXT3/4 for journaling. This has no relation to the install media! > >> > >> If the init scripts detect a problem on any of the file systems which are to be mounted (i.e. system disks), as outlined in /etc/fstab they will abort and drop you to a single-user mode shell. This is the same as typing in "linux 1" on the grub boot line (or LILO on old distro's). The point is to leave the main system disks unmounted and allow you to repair them. Typically just running fsck will repair them. You will need to do this for each partition (logical or physical) that has a problem. It will typically prompt you about problems it finds - pay attention as fsck runs - you might have to answer "yes" many times! Might be good idea to run fsck on all filesystems while your in there. Afterwords, when you type "exit" from the single-user shell, the system will automatically reboot - and if all is well will boot back to Runlevel 3 or 5 depending on your init setup with your repaired filesystems mounted properly. This is full multi-user/normal mode of operation your used to > > . > >> > >> In some cases, if the file system is too damaged to even load the ramdisk - it will just die on boot. In that case you will need a rescue disk to boot from. Most distro's install disks offer a "rescue mode"... so just download/burn a current copy of Fedora/CentOS/etc and you can use them as a rescue tool - and don't need to even have that same distro installed! Just look at the install menu and see if they offer a rescue mode. Typically you just type "rescue" and hit enter. It will then load up a minimal system into a ramdisk with most drivers installed that will detect your disk controller and other devices. When it asks if you want to have it mount filesystems answer "N". Then once it drops you to a shell start "fsck.ext2 /dev/hda1"/etc on EACH of your filesystems. > >> > >> Finally, most filesystems in EXTx format are set to do full checking after so many months of being mounted and/or after X many boots. Re: [App_rpt-users] Dial plan question
by Doug Crompton 17 Nov '13

17 Nov '13

I think I will, like you say, have to put a series of dial commands with different extension masks to do it. The following should work from what I see in examples but I have not been able to get it to work.... [pbx_server] switch => IAX2/user:pw@192.168.0.2/default Of course with proper username and pw, ip, and context for the server. But when I do this I only get the following trace at the server and an incomplete call. Perhaps I am missing how this works. My understanding was that if a call hit this context it would send it to the remote server for processing with its dial plan. slate*CLI> -- Accepted AUTHENTICATED TBD call from 192.168.0.124 Anyone ever used switch? 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio From: mike(a)midnighteng.com To: doug(a)crompton.com Subject: RE: [App_rpt-users] Dial plan question Date: Sat, 16 Nov 2013 01:15:58 -0700 I use much more than this in routing calls but I think this is what you are after. There are several ways to skin this cat but here is one. [autopatch] exten=_NXXNXXNXXX,1,Dial,IAX2/PBX3/${EXTEN} ;PSTN outside dial on pbx3 exten=_NXXX,1,Dial,IAX2/PBX3/${EXTEN} ;dial my voicemail/funtions/ivr on pbx3 exten=_NXXNXXNXXX,2,Congestion Of course, using mine as example, I have already weeded out/routed other types of calls before it gets to this script including stripping off a dialing prefix that was used to separate internal and external calls on the radiopbx. Be aware of "digit timeout" but if you have no long digit descriptions, it will not look for more. ...mike/kb8jnm -------- Original Message -------- Subject: RE: [App_rpt-users] Dial plan question From: Doug Crompton <doug(a)crompton.com> Date: Sat, November 16, 2013 1:21 am To: "mike(a)midnighteng.com" <mike(a)midnighteng.com> Cc: "app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org" <app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org> Mike, Yes, the iax connection works and I can dial 3 digit extensions with the dial plan I showed. I just did not want to have to recreate all of the dial plans I have on the pbx server on the Allstar server. I wanted to wholesale send everything that went in the radio patch there for dial plan analysis. Since some extensions are 3 digits and others are more I was stymied as to how to do that. Possibly SIP would do a better job at this. Early dial is a sip feature I believe. It would not make much difference if I used IAX or SIP on the local circuit from a loading and routing standpoint. If app_rpt did not send the digits to the dial plan until the radio carrier detect was released this would work. The digits would not be processed until they were all present. Then a dial plan of _x! would work. It would just except it as sent and then dial the pbx server with the extension of whatever length it was. Perhaps there is a way to do this??? Maybe we need another option in autopatch to do this! 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio From: mike(a)midnighteng.com To: doug(a)crompton.com Subject: RE: [App_rpt-users] Dial plan question Date: Fri, 15 Nov 2013 22:04:57 -0700 You must route the incoming digits to the other server. I used this method for my phone patch. I trunked it to my phone pbx (asterisk) for outgoing calls. You just need to make a iax connection to/from each system and check that it is functional with a route in your dialplan to the other server. As far as early dial ? -not sure if you can achieve what I think you mean by that without a bunch of script but you could start off with a prefix dial for route to the other server. That is how I make phone patches and give myself access to the radiopbx via phonepbx/inbound or sip. ...mike/kb8jnm -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [App_rpt-users] Dial plan question From: Doug Crompton <doug(a)crompton.com> Date: Fri, November 15, 2013 11:30 pm To: "app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org" <app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org> Further info... What I want to achieve here is called "early dial" when connecting a sip phone to Asterisk. Each digit is sent to the server and if it does not match a dial plan it looks for the next digit until it finally finds a match. Is there a way to do this between servers to achieve what I asked in the prior message? 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio From: doug(a)crompton.com To: app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org Date: Fri, 15 Nov 2013 22:04:33 -0500 Subject: [App_rpt-users] Dial plan question I have been using Asterisk for years but I just ran into a problem that I am sure there is a way to fix but I can't figure it out. I am connecting my Allstar server to my PBX asterisk server via IAX2. The connection works fine but I need some help on passing the extension. I want to pass the variable length extension to my pbx server. Extensions could be any combination of 3 digits up to a full phone number length. The actual extensions are processed in the PBX. Here is the Allstar extension snippet - [pbx_server] exten => _xxx,1,Answer exten => _xxx,n,noop("${EXTEN}") exten => _xxx,n,Wait(2) exten => _xxx,n,Dial(IAX2/pbx/${EXTEN}) exten => _xxx,n,Playback(vm-nobodyavail) exten => ,n,Hangup in rpt.conf 61=autopatchup,context=pbx_server,noct=1,farenddisconnect=1,dialtime=20000,quiet=1 ; Autopatch up 0=autopatchdn ; Autopatch down In the example I have put a 3 digit extension. So if I dial *61522 - 522 is passed to the pbx server. This works fine but I want to pass any length extension. If I put something like _x! - it just hits on the first digit. Maybe I could use waitexten() to capture it and pass to the pbx. Any ideas? The Allstar Asterisk and pbx Asterisk are obviously different machines on the same network. 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio _______________________________________________ App_rpt-users mailing list App_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org http://ohnosec.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/app_rpt-users _______________________________________________ App_rpt-users mailing list App_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org http://ohnosec.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/app_rpt-users

Best IAX client to use under IOS?
by Lu Vencl 16 Nov '13

16 Nov '13

I am getting away from using the Echolink client due to some issues I have encountered with the IOS version and wanted to see if anyone care to share which is the best IAX client to use under IOS? I have been using Zoiper, but I and others have found that it gets stuck and you lose control of the PTT function occasionally. I have tried a few others like Adore and IAXdialer, but have had no success. Thanks in advance. Lu KA4EPS
