I think this nerdvittles article - http://nerdvittles.com/?p=7448 is the one you are referring to. The google TTS looks promising. Anyone tried it with Allstar? http://zaf.github.io/asterisk-googletts/ 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio > Subject: Re: [App_rpt-users] Cepstral questions > To: doug(a)crompton.com > From: shulerburton(a)gmail.com > Date: Sun, 24 Nov 2013 06:17:25 +0000 > > Check out article on nerdvittles.com > Recently like last summer had article on many TTS apps. > Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry > > -----Original Message----- > From: Doug Crompton <doug(a)crompton.com> > Sender: app_rpt-users-bounces(a)ohnosec.org > Date: Sat, 23 Nov 2013 22:44:05 > To: app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org<app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org> > Subject: Re: [App_rpt-users] Cepstral questions > > _______________________________________________ > App_rpt-users mailing list > App_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org > http://ohnosec.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/app_rpt-users > > >

List of units for variables used in app_rpt?
by kk6ecm 24 Nov '13

24 Nov '13

I need to adjust some of the audio gains in ACID, Re: usbradio.conf, which appear to be easily adjusted by changing the values in the file using vi. Is there a data dictionary that includes a list of units and scaling available for variables used in Asterisk/app_rpt? Sent from iPad >

Thanks for the replies...here is my update on this after fooling with it this afternoon. I checked my registration at Cepstral. They have a page where you can enter your registered email and they send you you any registrations they have for you. http://www.cepstral.com/licenserecovery/Index?0 I suspect if you think you ever registered a product and you know the email you used to do it you should try that. I was surprised to find that I had two registrations keys for the the Diane voice. Not sure why that is but in any event I was able to use one of the keys to validate my Swift installation on Allstar. I was trying it with the version 5 code. I was not able to get it to validate the Diane_8khz voice but I was able to get it to validate the Diane voice which is 16khz. The weather script then wrote the file but it did not play because it was 16khz. So I added lines in the script to call sox and convert to 8K sample rate. That worked fine. Now my question is can I upgrade to version 6 and still get it to work with the same key? and is there any benefit (better audio) in upgrading? It appears to write to a file fine. I know I never bought that option and when I did buy the Diane voice in 2006 it was about $20 or so as I remember. So based on that it looks like you might be able to get away with just buying the voice if you can do just that anymore. They are now $40. Before laying out any money though I would wait and see what others say or maybe make a call to Cepstral. I have used the same voice on my PBX so that was probably 16K. I will have to go back and look at that. Is the 8K limit an Asterisk limit or app_rpt? 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio From: kb2bsl(a)kc2ra.org To: doug(a)crompton.com Subject: RE: [App_rpt-users] Cepstral questions Date: Sat, 23 Nov 2013 18:10:14 -0500 Doug,I know the page you're talking about, tried it myself and became discouraged by the possible $340 cost. We tried the festival route, and didn't like it.If you figure it out, I'd greatly appreciate if you share your findings, I'll do the same. I have used Cepstral Diane voice that I purchased years ago on another PBX system. At the time I remember it being a very reasonable buy. What are others experiences regarding Cepstral purchases. One third party page I went to said they offer an unlimted demo but the link was broken. When you go to there store it is $40 for voices, $100/ concurrency port, and $200 to write to file. I do not remember all that before or prices that high for personal use. If I want to write a wav file for a weather script do I need the write to file option? What are others buying or not buying here??? I want 8Khz Diane voice. 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio

Ok... didn't read far enough through the pages on the website... disregard questions 3 and 4. Thanks, Bob -----Original Message----- From: Bob [mailto:kk6ecm@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2013 8:45 PM To: 'app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org' Subject: Transition of current Allstar node from ACID to Limey Linux and hardware compatibility Bob here looking for some advice and/or suggestions. We have an Allstar node with Echolink which operates using ACID (CentOS release 5.5 (Final), updated Aug 2010) on a Mini-ITX (1.66 GHz Atom D510 processor and 30 MB/Sec compact flash for HDD via IDE interface) that is somewhat unstable (features seem to come and go, ssh quits and requires reboot, etc). We are using a URI interface to the duplex repeater. Reviewing the Allstarlink.org website suggests using Limey Linux on a Mini-ITX for stability. I have a few questions with regards to switching over to Limey Linux; 1) Why is Limey Linux considered more stable (hardware, compatibility, what)? 2) Should we switch in order to solve our instability issue? 3) What are the specifications for a "compatible motherboard" (http://ohnosec.org/drupal/node/69) first paragraph)? (chip set?), current motherboard - Giga-Byte GA-D510UD. 4) Is there a way of loading Limey Linux over ACID, or does it take a fresh install - image the CF with Limey Linux and go through setup? Thanks, Bob KK6ECM

What is the procedure for applying for new node number for each new computer? I have a non SysOP account on a windows computer, which I want to keep, but desire to get a node number for my Pickle Linux system. In short, how does one go about requesting multiple node numbers for multiple systems? Thanks, Bob KK6ECM

echolink status
by Greg 20 Nov '13

I finally got around to setting up location, etc in Allstar portal. All is okay except the frequency displayed on Echolink link status page here http://www.echolink.org/links.jsp?lat_deg=43&lat_min=3.75&lat_NS=North&lon_… I don't see any place in Allstar portal or in echolink.conf, gps.conf to set this. Any suggestions? Thanks

Radio Console
by John Locke 20 Nov '13

I'm trying to develop a TAXI radio dispatch application. Something like this: http://www.motorolasolutions.com/US-EN/Business+Product+and+Services/Dispat… I have 3 radios (with different private frecuencies) connected to the asterisk with 3 URI interfaces. The basic features of app_rpt and iaxrpt are working OK. Now, the problems... 1) Sometimes i need to talk to 2 or 3 of the radio channels at the same time. With the iaxrpt I can select and talk to only one radio, only one active call. 2) Also, i need to listen to the audio of the 3 calls (base radios), not only the selected call. Sadly, i can't open iaxrpt multiple instances in the same PC... 3) Is there any way i can detect wich taxi is talking to the radio? I'm a programmer, but I'm a newbie in the radio field. It would be great if any of you can sell me some consulting hours to accomplish this project. Thanks in advance John
