Re: [App_rpt-users] How to set MAC address on Beagleboard xM with Pickle Linux?
by Bob 01 Dec '13

OK... found it and I figured it out. Edited /etc/network/interfaces ADDED the following at the end of the file: hwaddress ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx After rebooting, the "permanent" MAC address is on the card, so it now acts as a hardware MAC on bootup. Saved the SD card image as my new baseline backup for Pickle should I mess something up :-) Now I can set a static address in my router for the Beagleboard-xM. Still learning as I go Thanks, Bob KK6ECM -----Original Message----- Date: Sat, 30 Nov 2013 21:28:00 -0800 From: kk6ecm <kk6ecm(a)gmail.com> To: "app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org" <app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org> Subject: [App_rpt-users] How to set MAC address on Beagleboard xM with Pickle Linux? Spontaneous disconnects, disappearing nodes...
by Jah Rastafari 01 Dec '13

01 Dec '13

I expect this has probably come up before (I've heard others discussing it) but does anyone know anything about nodes appearing and disappearing off the active list? One day everything's fine and I can connect, etc.; the next I've disappeared off the list and can't connect to anything; other days I can connect to *some* nodes but not others. Nothing has changed on my end this entire time, btw. I've heard discussion referring to problems with "Directory Services" on the backend, but that's outside my wheelhouse. Hope somebody has some idea what might be happening. Been going on for a couple of months or so now. Thanks. -Bob KK6RQ Node #27268

scheduler
by Harry Romano 30 Nov '13

30 Nov '13

Hello, Could someone please tell me how to make a schedule for allstar that would turn on a specific node on a certain day and time. I'm also not sure where to insert the code. I would like to have the system automatically connect to the win system node 2560 at 10:30 pm pst on Friday nights. I also have a squelch tail on my repeater. Apparently the radio I am using does not close the tone squelch fast enough. Is there any way to get allstar to eliminate it. Harry Romano KC4RPP Skype: hromano777 Phone 1-239-455-1411

Id and voice message questions
by Doug Crompton 29 Nov '13

29 Nov '13

I have a couple of questions regarding ID and voice messages. I have both 'idrecording' and 'idtalkover' set to identify my call in CW. At times I get two ID's or one ID interrupts another and starts over when listening to a net of long duration with lots of interruptions. Should both of these be defined or can you define just one or the other. I don't mind the CWID being over the person talking. It doesn't make much sense to ID when someone drops from the network during a net as it would be continuing over the next person picking it up anyway. I also have a question about tail messages or messages sent out in general. What is the best way to send out a periodic voice message such that it doesn't appear on top of incoming audio? The tailmessage commands appear to do this but what if one wanted to send a message out at a specific time, say on the hour and not necessarily at a transmission tail. Is there a way to accomplish this and not have it voice over network or local audio which might be present? 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio

Trimble SVeeEight GPS to RTCM
by Gary Herzog Gmail 28 Nov '13

We are trying to interface a Trimble-SVeeEight-Plus to the RTCM. I am running the S/W Version: 1.38 10/09/2013 on the RTCM and I am seeing the GPS info listed below in Debug mode 32 but I think I may be having issues with the PPS. The Trimble indicates that it has a 10 microseconds negative going pulse I noticed that the Garmin GPS 78X LVC has a default pulse width of 100 milliseconds. I am wondering if the Trimble is too fast for the RTCM.. is this going to be a problem?? It appears that I cannot adjust the pulse width on the SVeeEight as its grayed out.. any ideas. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gary Kc5daq.. The 1PPS signal is an open collector interface on pin 9 of Ports 1 and 2. The polarity of the PPS signal is an inverted, 10 microseconds negative going pulse with the falling edge synchronized to UTC GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181436.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.252,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*76 GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403276, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:36 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181437.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.252,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*77 GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403277, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:37 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181438.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.251,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*7B GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403278, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:38 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181439.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.251,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*7A GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403279, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:39 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181440.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.251,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*74 GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403280, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:40 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181441.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.251,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*75 GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403281, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:41 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181442.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.251,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*76 GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403282, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:42 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181443.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.250,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*76 GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403283, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:43 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181444.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.250,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*71 GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403284, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:44 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181445.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.250,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*70 GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403285, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:45 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181446.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.250,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*73 GPS-DEBUG: mon: 10, gps_time: 1385403286, ctime: Mon Nov 25 18:14:46 2013 GPS-DEBUG: $GPRMC,181447.0,A,3009.798,N,09550.250,W,000.00,000.0,251113,05.5,E*72 Enter Selection (1-27,97-99,r,q,d) : S/W Version: 1.38 10/09/2013 System Uptime: 1747.0 Secs IP Address: 192.168.33.80 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.33.1 Primary DNS: 192.168.33.1 Secondary DNS: 8.8.8.8 DHCP: 0 VOTER Server IP: 192.168.33.60 VOTER Server UDP Port: 667 OUR UDP Port: 667 GPS Lock: 0 Connected: 0 COR: 0 EXT CTCSS IN: 1 PTT: 0 RSSI: 0 Current Samples / Sec.: 0 Current Peak Audio Level: 53448 Squelch Noise Gain Value: 18, Diode Cal. connections fail
by Benjamin L. Naber 28 Nov '13

28 Nov '13

lately I've been having an issue connecting to nodes, especially the bigger ones. I haven't been able to connect to node 2135 at all, and sometimes it takes two or three tries to connect to node 2560. Do these nodes have limits on incoming/outgoing connections? No changes have been made to my node or my network in about a year. ~Benjamin, KB9LFZ allstar node 28569
