Ok, here is the latest We are running 0.255 and no matter where the key up comes from (rf, IAX) the talkover id runs, in the middle a CT sounds, and then the Initial ID runs. Our talkover is cw, and the initial is voice. Our group was discussing it and we have noticed it just started showing up in the later builds. When we are not sure..... Chuck K0CMK

First look at this link. http://www.cfreeze.com/trac/stormsiren/ This might make writing the code easier. Hey Kan, Sorry if my last email was a little hard. Yep I under stand that you want the S.A.M.E. alert to trigger a different courtesy tone. I don't write the code for APP_RPT but lets look at what you and others would want for the S.A.M.E. alert. When the S.A.M.E. alert is triggered 1) Record the alert so it can be played back by a dial plan or connect to a Rx radio with updated info. 2) Connect to a node and Tx the audio alert (maybe use a different PL code) 3) Text to speech for the coded message. 4) Program more then one S.A.M.E. alert code 5) Allow admins to configure S.A.M.E. alert code to connect to different nodes. 6) Change courtesy tones. 7) Play coded message any 1-10 minutes. (TORNADO) 10) Dial plan to reset S.A.M.E. alert. May guess is that if you have a S.A.M.E. alert radio and URI I would try to fine the COS or COR and just play with that first. I would think that you should be able to find a S.A.M.E. alert radio that has output for COS or COR and the TEXT data. If you have that I think you could make it very simple for the code writers. I guess its not supported. (SAME-Specific Area Message Encoding) Ok I was just wondering. I have a S.A.M.E. decoder board from Cat controllers. its the WD-100. http://www.catauto.com/wd100.html I'm going to wire it up to a VHF GE Phoenix. And connect it to a Ast node fob. This way it has a little more smarts in the decoder but what we need is some hardware I/O control from the AST box. Is there any hardware I/O supported in App _Rpt like parallel pin twiddling or serial port pins? I think the decoder can be controlled via DTMF so maybe get the node to generate DTMF commands as macros. I'll let you know how I make out. Macros and ID's

Hi, A couple observations; I wonder if anyone else has noticed these, or if I'm forgetting something important. This is with app_rpt version 0.254: ID's: If someone is long-winded (I've noticed this only with incoming links on Echolink, so not sure if it can be generalized), the standard ID plays over whoever is talking, even if talkover ID is set. So, I have a sound file for my regular ID, and a morse string for talkover ID. If the voice ID starts and someone keys up, as expected, the morse ID takes over. However, if polite ID expires and some ratchet jaw is still ratchet jawing I guess, the regular ID, rather than the talkover ID, plays. Macros: Apparently, macros at least don't like having the digits A, B, C, or D in them, nor do they appear to like being started with a 0 digit. I just thought of this, does the leading 0 indicate a shortcut everywhere (i.e. "last connected node), or is that just for connect/disconnect? Yup, just reconfirmed it. The ID was running after it timed (rptr was quiet), I kerchunked while it was running, and it started all over again. It was the initial ID, not the talkover- I have them saying 2 different cw strings

okay.. I set the idtime=1000 for testing purposes. I started Asterisk. Ker-chunked the input freq and heard the normal voice id. After that was done, and the repeater Tx had stopped, I keyed-up on the input freq and kept the signal there for a little while and then heard the morse ID, just like I would expect. again... whats the problem?? Would like equipment suggestions

Good Morning, I have node 27129 working just fine at home using an older P4 PC, but now want to move this functionality to the repeater site. I was thinking that a laptop and DMK interface would probably work the best, with possibly a broadband USB stick for internet access. Granted a lower-tier broadband service would probably cost a little per month, it should be easier than running a seperate RF link back to my house and using that broadband connection. Coverage at the site is no problem. I'm asking what others are doing in regards to PC equipment. I'm aware of the Mini-ITX boards and CF, but what specs should I look for in a used laptop thinking it would mostly be self-contained and quieter than a PC? If I use the broadband service, then I only need one DMK for the repeater, otherwise with the RF link I would need two. The PC would be housed in the same rack cabinet as the repeater. Is this a good idea? Remote control is another concern - how are some of you doing that? I'm comfortable with Linux, PuTTY, etc. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Tony
