Hi men, You must effectively use the FXS (green) modules for ARIB boards. They provide the 48Vcc reversed for the PTT command. Hi All, Just a note that may be useful to others.... And no, please don't write me back to say "why would you do that". This is only meant as helpful information for those who decide they DO want to do it. I upgraded my EVB-based system to FreePBX 2.5rc1. My USB Fob would no longer function, and in fact generated a lot of log entries as rpt kept respawning itself, unable to detach the USB HID device. It seems that the /usr/local/bin/app_rpt_helper routine... grep "permiblast" /var/lib/asterisk/bin/freepbx_engine > /dev/null 2>&1 res=$? if [ $res = 1 ]; then sed -i 's/\[ -e \/dev\/dsp ] && chown -R asterisk:asterisk \/dev\/ dsp/\/usr\/local\/bin\/permiblast/' /var/lib/asterisk/bin/freepbx_engine fi ...is no longer sufficient. Now the lines in /var/lib/asterisk/bin/freepbx_engine look like this: [ -e /dev/dsp ] && chown -R $AMPDEVUSER:$AMPDEVGROUP /dev/dsp So the match fails. Rather than muck up freepbx_engine too much, I just added a line right below that line in freepbx_engine: /usr/local/bin/permiblast All is well now. :) I suppose I should fix the app_rpt_helper script to look for the new format, because future updates in the FreePBX series are likely to keep this pattern and my next upgrade may well break things again. Now that the beta versions of the channel drivers for Echolink and IRLP have been released, here is a place to test your outgoing connections. Allstar HUB 2100 is up and running. Its Echolink node number is 399058 (N4IRS-L) Its IRLP node number is 4077. It is accepting inbound connections from Allstar, Echolink and IRLP. Steve

We finally have beta versions of the chan_echolink and chan_irlp channel drivers. please download: http://stats.allstarlink.org/ast-irlp-echolink.tar.gz This contains the channel drivers for Echolink and IRLP integration with app_rpt, and other files tha needed changes to accommodate them. Included in this distribution is a README file, with instructions for installation. You will want to un-tar it into /usr/src/asterisk Be careful connecting to IRLP reflectors. Currently, all the Allstar connect and disconnect messages come thru the link, and it seems that the reflector owners dont like that kinda stuff. The whole issue of these messages in general (which will certainly cover this problem) will be dealt with soon in another edition of app_rpt. This is mainly to prove out the drivers and they are completely useful in all other applications.

Hello All, The Asterisk Community's annual get-together is called Astricon and it will be held later this month in Phoenix, AZ. Jim Dixon, WB6NIL, attends each year and does a great job of representing the interests of amateur radio with his exhibit and conference presentation. Last year I enjoyed going to Astricon and worked with Jim to set up and run the exhibit and assist in his presentation. [App_rpt] URI's and RFI == strange problems!

Hello Everyone, I encountered the most bizarre problem yet with app_rpt and URI's tonight. While using my new HF remote base and VHF remote base simultaneously, app_rpt consistantly got really confused. After a fresh asterisk start, I could try to connect to the HF node. While connecting, app_rpt would simultaneously disconnect! --So, I'd hear the connected message and a disconnected message at the same time! Then, I couldn't connect to the node again, and sometime couldn't connect to VHF node, either. This problem has been happening very intermittantly for a month now and I couldn't find what was causing it. But, it hadn't been severe enough to really get my attention. While searching thru the config files trying to figure out what I'd broken, I happened to notice this kernel message: kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: port 6 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling... So, I experimentally put ferrite split cores around each USB cable, right at the URI--And the problem instantly disappeared! Eureka!! So, if anyone sees flakeyness or other strange URI problems that come and go, RFI could be the cause! 73, David KB4FXC
