I've been trying to understand how all the pieces fit together. I'm more of a visual learner so I've been drawing this diagram. Anyone care to comment/correct/complete it? I'm interested in completely understanding the "flow" of how an incoming connection is routed out to a particular USB port, as well as what configuration parameters/files are involved. One thing I've see in extensions.conf is exten => ${NODE},1,rpt,${NODE} This would seem like it would keep you from having to write lines for every extension on the local server but things stop working if I just have that line in my radio-secure staza. simplex vs duplex for a home node

Please excuse my ignorance on this. But one of the advantages of Allstar over say IRLP is the ability to operate full-duplex. My understanding on this is limited. But apparently full-duplex is not possible without setting up a repeater. Since many folks seem to setup nodes in their residences... is it common for them to have repeater setups that allow them full-duplex operation at home? Is there a relatively cheap/easy way to do this? Any tips are very appreciated. :)

Cole, If these are all local nodes, you might want to consider the quad pci radio card. Weird behavior

I have two nodes set up. One of them is a DMK URI the other is a CM119 dongle. Both are in full duplex mode 3. I have an HT connected to the DMK with a COR signal going in (internally tied to the squelch light). PTT is not connected to the HT. I link both nodes and have a speaker on the CM119. The behavior I expect is when the COR goes high, both nodes should PTT, and both nodes should pass audio from the HT. It seems that when audio is active, the green light flashes fast, so I will say I expect that as well. But what I get is this: When a signal comes into the HT, both dongles PTT are activated reliably (I added a red LED to the CM119), but randomly, one or both dongles will not pass audio (which also seems to be tied to the green light flashing fast.) So randomly one, the other, both, or none of the dongles will start flashing the green LED fast when the COR goes high (PTT always activates). If the CM119 green light flashes fast, I hear audio out of the speaker regardless if the DMK is flashing fast (not monitoring audio on that node) When I do head audio, mid transmission, the audio will just stop and the green lights will go back to the slow flash, but the PTT will remain high. Watching the console, nothing comes up when the audio stops. But when the COR is dropped, the PTT is also dropped on both dongles and I see -- Hungup 'Zap/pseudo-[some number]'. Load average is low, ~0.2 when this happens. I previously had this all working with 6 nodes pretty well but now I can't even get 2 working reliably. This is with simpleUSB. Any dieas? I just recompiled with the radio_relax flag unset as in Dougs simpleusb howto because I was getting random DTMF triggers which I thought might be causing it, but I'm not getting those anymore and it's still a problem. I am seeing these messages randomly, but they do not appear to be tied to any external actions. WARNING[27142]: app_rpt.c:9526 rpt_tele_thread: telem_lookup:ctx failed on Zap/pseudo-393439155 On a side note, is there a way to keep allstar from trying to register private nodes? Need help DD command

I recently set-up a BBB. When getting the image from www.hamvoip.net I tried use my new installation of Ubuntu 14.04, mostly because I am trying to learn Linux by just using it. I didn’t have any luck and just to keep the project moving I resorted back to windows to complete the image copy. I would like to learn how to copy a .img file to a micro sd card using DD. I would also like to know how to do the reverse of taking a micro sd card and making a .img file for backup. Is there anyone on the list willing to help me with this? Thank you Bob/N1XBM

Quad Radio PCI card Voltage?

Hi all, have anyone realised an efficient Allstarlink-System with CTCSS and COR elaborated by DSP (using configuration in "usbradio.conf") using low power computers such Odroid, Banana Pi, Cubieboard, Wandboard or similars? If reply is yes (yahoo!), is there available an ISO file for used memory (compact flash, micro SD etc.) ? 73! Thomas, IW3AMQ

Here I am guessing a little based on what you have said. .......... The file you are downloading is a ISO it is a standard image for a CD (in our case) You need to just download/save the file on your computer. Then when download is complete, Open you favorite CD burning software and CREATE A CD FROM A ISO IMAGE. Pointing to the iso image you just downloaded. Now what exactly it says in your software is unknown to me. But that is the basics of it. Once you have your burned CD, set your computer up to boot from CD ROM, (probably does allready) Put freshly burned CD in and start machine.Follow on screen instruction. help with installing CentOS

Hi All, I am trying to install the OS to build my server for Allstar. I clicked the link and downloaded the file as it says to. But, all I get is a Sonic recorder with a file. The file when I click on it just opens up another recording file. I also tried to reboot with the cd in and the bios is set to boot from cd. But, still nothing happens. Any ideas what I am doing wrong??? Frank KH6BFD
