Codec Negotiation

Hi List, Ok, so I have a portable node and it works great at home but on the road using my iPhone hotspot with Verizon it's quite jittery and doesn't sound very good, even when I have 2 or 3 bars. I can connect to the same node using echolink and it works fine even with 1 to 2 bars. I'm using the hamvoip image without any codec changes and I notice it connects to our local repeater hamvoip node with g726aal2 which makes sense because g726aal2 is first in [general] which I believe controls outbound connections. So I wanted to see what I sounded like so I connected to 40894 so I could hear my own voice. It connected using ulaw for some reason. The only way I could get it to change was to comment out the codecs I didn't want to use in [general]. Apparently it doesn't negotiate how I think it does. On ulaw and g726aal2 it sounded pretty terrible. gsm was better but it was still broken up. I wanted to try ilbc but codec negotiation failed which I'm sure means that 40894 doesn't allow ilbc. I then connected successfully to our local repeater node with ilbc and it sounded just fine, even with one bar, but I need to test more... Is this anyone else's experience with using hotspots? I've modified the codec under [genera] to the below, which the way I understand is for outgoing connections. And the codec order is the order of attempted negotiation. I ordered them on my portable node in order of least bandwidth to greatest. So with that said, when I connect to my local node, which allows ilbc, why does it negotiate to g726aal2? And how can I setup iax.conf so it always connects using the lowest bandwidth codec that the other side allows? allow=ilbc allow=gsm allow=g726aal2 allow=ulaw 73, Will, KE4IAJ

Remote Base telemetry

I am trying to make a Kenwood TM-D710 work through the extensions.conf phone patch commands to execute a script to command hamlib/rigctl for control of the radio. I want to have the audio feedback from the commands to play on the linked allstar node and not transmitted across the remote base radio. The only commands I have been using is rpt/localplay and Playback for the audio feedback. Is there another command which would send the audio to the connected node and not out to the RF side? I also have read there is a tmd700 module that works with the native remotebase commands. Where would I look to modify commands to adapt it for the tmd710, which appears to have more functionality than I can using hamlib/rigctl. For information I am running a current DIAL RC1 image on a raspberry 3. Thanks, Thomas KC5KCT

Strange issue with Asterisk

Hi All, I have notice that I can no longer connect to any allstar nodes with my home node. Seem the echolink is working but the allstar side is not. I have looked into my router to make sure nothing has changed. All looks good there. I verified the ip address as well and it looks good. I am showing up as green on the allstar site. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it. Mini Computers

At this point, I don't think the raspberry pi audio is as good as it could be on the raspberry pi. Even with a pi 3 on the best settings in usbradio, it will sputter every once and a while I realize Doug has implemented a precision timer, however, his image is not open source, and I cannot modify, therefore not an option for me. What is the best mini computer hardware available for reasonable prices nowadays that I could use in place of the pi? The raspberry pi arm architecture just does not seem to cut the current versions of AllStar and DAHDI. I realize how picky I am being, but I am sort of going crazy by some raspberry pi nodes i've put together with crazy sputtering issues. And the telemetry sometimes sounds like it is played at 1/2 speed. U Usbradio and simpleusb have their different problems, but neither seem to work ok. I would actually argue usbradio works better on the pi because it does not have an unreliable duplex audio delay. Do ATOM processers work well? Best suggestions here for something lightweight and non power-hungry? Thank You! Skyler KDØWHB

Dual image

Does anyone know where I can get an image file that is slightly older than one on AllStar. I was thinking maybe 8.7 instead of 8.7.1. Or enemy’s 8.6 something version. I cannot get the newest one to work and I have had people remotely access my system and they could not figure it out. Everything works but the radio connected to usb using a modified sound fob. I was told all conf filed look ok but it still doesn’t work. It used to work with Ecco link but that quit working since I switched internet providers. That could be a problem with their modem. Allmon2 Individual Users

Hello all, Is it possible to setup individual users and restrict access for those users from functions in Allmon? For example, say I want to set up a user that can only connect and disconnect a node from the Allmon interface, but I don't want them to have access to the Control panel? Or I want them to have access to certain functions in the control panel? From what I have been able to find, I don't think it is possible, but I wanted to ask in case I missed something or someone had found a solution. Thanks much! I can not get my radio to work through usb on my allstar node. I get erroe messafe says Usb not active.How do I get it active? I tryed every file i can think of and do not see anything wrong.Can anyone give me the command to activate my usb device. I have v=been messing with this for weeks with no luck.My node works otherwise but I can not hook up a radio to use it I have to link through ecco link to use my node.I think if i could get the usb device to go active It will work.

Raslink vs Dial for RPI

Seen the image from https://jlappliedtechnologies.com/raslink/ In the change log there is a few nice thing.. I dont know if those are into the Dial for Pi image. Anyone know about it? >From what I can see it seem to support DSP in USBradio.
