Doug, I have the latest 7.8 Debian installed on my new server here. From what I've read, zaptel will no longer compile against the newer kernels. Can you confirm that the current trunk works on debian or do I indeed need to grab dahdi and use the dahdi patches then compile asterisk? From what I'm reading it needs dahdi. (what a stupid name. New in the Asterisk world - D-Star gateway ?

Hi, I'm new on this list, so here's a quick presentation. My callsign is TK1BI, I'm living in Corsica, and I've got some experience about building and maintaining analog repeaters and interconnects all around our small island in the Mediterranean sea. I'm now doing my first experiments in the digital world. Working with Open Source software, and with "open" systems, seems obvious to me ;-) I built my first Asterisk/app_rpt from source on a HummingBoard (a Raspberry Pi clone, powered by an ARM7 quad-core Freescale iMX6). The operating system is Debian. The next step will be to order some low-cost USB soundcards, and connect them to a pair of radios, to create a test repeater. In the meantime, we are reactivating and old project of HamNet WiFi network, to carry TCP/IP to the mountains where our VHF/UNF repeaters are located. Anyway, there is some interest here for D-Star. Lots of people are buying rigs, and having fun with it. Even if D-Star does not match my idea of an "open" system, I'm thinking about the possibilities to make a gateway between analog, AllStar and D-Star world. But I didn't find much information about that. What I understood is that I need to use the additional software "RptDir" with a hardware AMBE codec. There are some web sites about that, but it's unclear for me if these are currently supported projects or not. Then, here are some questions : - About RptDir, it seems I also need a piece of software called "dstar2analog", but I didn't find it anywhere - About the hardware codec : the "DV Dongle" seems expensive to me, and I didn't find any reseller in Europe. The DV3000 card for Raspberry Pi seems more interesting to me, but is it supported for what I want to do ? - Are there already some attempts to interconnect Asterisk routing with D-Star routing (ie, more than just sending the audio between each other) ? Automatic disconnect after totime

Hi there all, Does anyone know if I am able to have my hub automatically disconnect a node that times out? e.g. If I have a node connected to me that has a carrier with no audio and blocking the system up. Thanks in advance Steve M0HOY

As we’re about to go live with our first repeater it came to me a question about addressing. Does each RTCM et al have a method of addressing an individual device, like an ESN of sorts? Thank you.

DMR sandbox

Anyone doing anything with this DMR sandbox? If I read it right it does not provide access to the DMR-MARC. Although maybe if your part of the sandbox that's a sub network? I see they specifically mention Allstar.

Are the O'l Digium FXS or FXO pci cards Supported?

Or will they work? I remember reading they worked on old versions of apt_rpt I also figure they may be a better option than USB but relatively rare/expensive. KD6GDB, I like your signature. You ought to be getting rich about now.. HI I agree about the USB 2.0 PCI cards but they seem to be getting scarce. Still available but limited vendors according to Amazon, Newegg, and Fry's Electronics. But two fobs per bus is the limit I've experienced, and that's only in testing not under hard use. Our initial approach is to use a PC and try to run all eight radios off of it. For testing we're using modified fobs running on USB 2.0 ports and when we try to use more than four, things break up, sound bad, etc. I've found that CentOS 5 that comes on the ACID disk doesn't support USB 3.0, which we were thinking might offer more bandwidth and handle the added fobs. Has anyone used this PC based approach for 4+ nodes using USB fobs? Or could I get some suggestions as to how to approach the implementation of eight nodes without using fobs or the discontinued 4 port PC card? Or is it a viable solution to use a BBB for every radio and connect them all with Ethernet switches and treat each BBB like a separate server. Any ideas are appreciated Cole AA7RD
