Simplex. Simplex linking a node to a repeater is a terribly bad idea! Please don't do this. This puts squelch tails on all the connected systems when you unkey, as the repeater sends back a squelch tail to the node which transmits it over the network. I don't know about the policies of other node operators, but I don't have much tolerance for this. I'll disconnect any node connected to my node which is doing this. The right way to do this is to have anothe radio at the repeater site on a separate channel from the repeater output as a remote base on the repeater. This way there's no squelch tail. I have my Allstar node-server hooked up to radio tx/rcv(at my house) to my local repeater. In the Allstar portal should I be configuared as simplex, remote base, or hub? My setup is not at repeater site or physcally wired to the repeater. Tnx, Darril/WD5GJP

I'm seriously considering setting up an Allstar node. Since I currently run an EchoIRLP node, but since I can't run Allstar and IRLP on the same computer, it will be a bit inconvenient to have all three. I want my Allstar node to be as portable as possible. Having a small repeater would be nice. I'd like it to be able to operate in a way that would allow me to carry it somewhere and set it up, but if I need it, be able to connect an outside antenna to it. I would also like to have autopatch capabilities, both outgoing and incoming. I'm pretty technical and once I figure out how to do something, I can usually do it again. The big obstacle is my blindness will prevent me from setting up the system myself. I don't have any local hams I can ask to help, since most of them in this area are not interested in internet linking. Any ideas on how I can accomplish my goal? Hi Folks, I downloaded/compiled the latest svn offering. All seemed to go OK but I'm having a problem with Asterisk. I'm getting this error immediately after startup (asterisk -vvvvvvvvvvvvcg); [Oct 29 14:30:51] WARNING[29060]: channel.c:3051 ast_request: No channel type registered for 'Radio' This roll's buy a few times and then this happens; [Oct 29 14:30:53] ERROR[29052]: app_rpt.c:20593 rpt_master: Continual RPT thread restarts, killing Asterisk What have I missed? Well considering that I am "new" to app_rpt/asterisk and it's been a long while since dabbling with linux I can't discount user error. I too would try to duplicate and retrace the steps I took to update but considering I have everything working again I much rather leave well enough alone. Thanks for trying though. Please help me. How do I set up PAP2Ts to connect to my repeater?

I am just getting started and still have not got a good understanding of how this works. I currently have a basic install from the ACID_CENTOS CD that I downloaded 9/29/2010. I have the radios connected using a CM-108. In addition to this basic setup I want to use a PAP2T to be able to connect to the repeater. I have configured a couple of PAP2Ts to register with the server and I can dial from either one to the other. What I also want to be able to do is dial a number from either one of the PAP2Ts that will connect them to the repeater such that they can hear what the repeater receiver is hearing and that audio from the handset will come out over the air on the repeater. The PAP2T's are on the same LAN with the server. It seems like it should be easy, probably just the right line in the extensions.conf file, but all of my attempts at it have failed. The dial plan that I put in the PAP2Ts is just "(x.)" without the quotes. Would someone please tell me how to make this work? Remember I am a newbie here so don't assume that I know anything about the configuration of asterisk or app_rpt, I really don't know why what I have so far is even working at all. I made the Linksys adapters work by adding the following to sip.conf. I am not sure if this is even correct, but it allows them to call each other. Parallel port & chan_tlb

Hello, I received my CM108 fobs from Newegg today! I plugged one in and started playing around, but must have something wrong regarding the parallel port. I briefly had the PTT working correctly, but not the COS (pin 11), so I upgraded again to make sure that I had the latest files (with pin 11 support). I noticed in the SVN that app_rpt was version 0.269, and read that it included "chan_TLB" support. My apologies if this has been posted in detail somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I'm wondering if the TLB support is Allstar support via TheLinkBox? That'd be amazing if so! Also, has anyone had luck with the parallel port under app_rpt? From the time I boot up, my AUX1 (pp4) is high. I'm not sure why I was able to get the PTT to work briefly? COS did not, although DTMF decode is working if I change the CTCSS decode tone to 0.0.. I'm not using discriminator audio, and the radios have CTCSS squelch. Thanks for any advice. 73. Kyle K0KN
